On this day 74 years ago, Japan surrendered to the United
States, ending World War II. A few weeks later, a formal surrender ceremony took place on the
USS Missouri battleship, in Tokyo Bay. From our visit to the USS Missouri, now a
museum at Pearl Harbor:
