Health Care Freedom To Do List -- We Need to Whip some Lame Dogs!

Tea Party Patriots Health Care Freedom To Do List for This Week

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

(The activities on Thursday are vitally important! We do not want Speaker Pelosi to line up the votes and pass this bill before the August recess on Friday.)

Call the Blue Dog Democrats at their DC Offices. Email the Blue Dog Chiefs of Staff in your state and/or district.

We have heard from a very reliable source that there are 4 specific Blue Dog Democrats who are making a deal with Speaker Pelosi and her Leadership. They are:
  • Mike Ross from AR - Phone: (202) 225-3772 - Fax: (202) 225-1314 - Ross' website

  • Zack Space from OH - Phone: (202) 225-6265 - Fax: (202) 225-3394 - Space's website

  • Bart Gordon from TN - Phone: (202) 225-4231 - Fax: (202) 225-6887 - Gordon's website

  • Baron Hill from IN - Phone: (202) 225-5315 - Fax: (202) 226-6866 - Hill's website
Ask the 10 friends you emailed Monday to call their Congressman to ask him or her to vote against the bill.

Ask the 10 friends you emailed on Monday to call at least the 4 Blue Dog Democrats listed above.

Friday, July 31, 2009

Call the Blue Dog Democrats again.

Call the Local Offices and the DC Offices of your own Congressman and Senators. Please remember to record the number of emails, faxes, and calls you are making.

Tea Party smack down!!

Tea Party Patriots have been uniting around this country to give ObamaCare the smack down. At Senator Claire "Acorn" McCaskill's recent Town Hall Meeting in St.Louis, over 1200 people showed up to a meeting that typically gets 150. Two weeks prior, her staff called the police on the St.Louis TPP who were protesting outside her office.

Listen for the crowds reaction.

But even better is the soldier who gives Mccaskill's staffer some much needed constitutional instruction.

Americans want affordable healthcare, NOT socialized healthcare. Why have they been so desperate to force a vote on this before the recess? One reason, they don't want to come home to crowds like this. Make no doubt that NE Ohio will give our non-representing representatives a tea party welcome.

Socialized Health Care Supporters Get Outnumbered in Obama's OH Visit

In a show of support with the over 50% of their fellow Americans upset with the push for socialized health care, The Cleveland Tea Party Patriots called upon fellow Tea Party Patriots across Ohio to stand together today in this battle to protect our medical freedoms. Like the minutemen of yesteryear, these patriots faced this challenge head on.

Braving heavy rains & torrential downpours, the steadfast Tea Party Patriots in OH, amassed between 600-750 people in Shaker Hts, OH to speak out against this proposed trillion dollar socialized health care be being promoted by President Obama today at Shaker Ht High School.

Members of several like-minded groups, the 9.12 groups from across OH, the Grass Fire Rally Team from Painesville, Heritage Group from Willoughby, joined Tea Party Patriot groups from all over OH and staged a peaceful and responsible protest.

Meeting at Shaker Towne Centre and lining Lee Rd., we were greeted by constant honks and cheers of approval as cars drove through this heavily traveled intersection in what can be considered the backyard of Sen. Sherrod Brown and the front door of Rep. Marcia Fudge (both supporters of the Death care proposals). We were made aware that at least two (2) people that pulled over and joined us.

As “O” hour neared, and after interviews with Channel 3, 5, 8, 19, WTAM 1100 and the local fish wrap – the Cleveland PD, our soaked to the bone fellow Patriots began growing antsy. Curiously enough, the fact that, “WE the people,” vastly outnumbered proponents of socialized health care and ACORN activists (Obama’s Nuts) never made any of their reports or stories. Who’d a thunk it?!? But we do feel the reporters from local Channel 8 & 19 did give us fair coverage. And for this we thank them for being truthful. The event was also picked up by Cavuto and earned a link on Instapundit.

Following a police escort, our .3/4 mile long Patriot Procession marched down Lee Rd, again to the honks & cheers of approval from passing motorists. Proceeding through side streets, we were met with homeowners also expressing their support. These would be the ones that did not have Obama signs in the front yard.

Arriving at the HS, we congregated in a predetermined location worked out with the Shaker PD. This location was selected for security concerns. We did not feel it would be responsible to mix families and seniors with possibly combative Obama supporters. Do I need to even comment on why we did not want to be near ACORN? Confrontation with anyone -- was the last thing we wanted and security of participants was always first and foremost in our planning. Noticing there was merely a handful of death care supporters outside Shaker HS our crowd migrated the front doors where we were obviously kept behind the security line.

Obama and his supporters were not our targeted audience even though some felt they should have been. Think about it… we were there to rally against socialized health care -- why waste our time, energy and efforts on Obama and his death care supporters? They will and routinely do ignore us anyway.

Our target audience was the everyday John & Jane Q. Citizen who are also unhappy about possibly losing the right to choose, paying for the health care for untold millions of illegal immigrants and another trillion dollar booby prize of a plan. We were there to show other Americans that our 1st Amendment rights do exist and that the, Silent Majority – will be Silent No More!

Wtam picks--Ha ha some of the people against us got lumped in with us.

19 news--Look at Ralph Yeah Ralph

Ok here it goes my first blog. You will find out in time that Grammar is not my strong suit. Also not know for winning spelling bee's. I will keep it short just for the sake of not boring you to death.

We did good today. Some might think since they put us in the corner and it was a long walk they might feel discouraged. About the walk I thank you all for making it. It was long and I know it was hard for some Geriatrics Like Ralph. It was hard but they made it.

Some might feel slighted that that they did not see the man himself but we have to remember it is not his mind we trying to change. It is the people that saw us on Lee and the procession over there. My hope is we get fair coverage on the news and so we can reach the masses that see those programs. We need to stick together since divided we fall. I leave you with this.

Big brother really IS listening...

And we were sorta-kinda joking around on one of our weekly National leadership calls about big brother listening. Joke no more my friends.

From Politico.

Amy Kremer of the National Tea Party Patriots sends on the full audio recording of a conference call I wrote about Friday, on which Sen. Jim DeMint said health care reform could be Obama's "Waterloo." The comments have attracted attention, and an attack from President Obama today.

DeMint's full remark -- which can be heard at the very end of this recording (.wav) -- is:

This health care issue is D-Day for freedom in America. If we lose this, we’ll probably have half of our economy in some way controlled by the federal government. We can’t allow that to happen. And on the other side of it, if we’re able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo. It will break him. And we will show that we can – along with the American people – begin to push those freedom solutions that work in every area of our society.

The conference call was led by Kremer and by Rick Scott of Conservatives for Patients Rights.

Obama today addressed DeMint's remarks directly.

“If we’re able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo. It will break him,” the president quoted DeMint as saying. “Think about that. This isn’t about me. This isn’t about politics. This is about a health care system that is breaking American families, breaking America’s businesses and breaking America’s economy. We can’t afford the politics of delay and defeat."

Guess it's a compliment that we're worthy of a good eavesdrop. Just keep an eye out for the black helicopters..

The Senator Brown field report

Here are some emails I received from people who attended the Health Care protests at Senator Brown's office. Clearly this is another non-representing representative whose staff has been drinking too much of the MSNBC Kool-aid.

People kept their cool.....but (I) some expressed our anger and outrage for the government stealing our money and stealing the best health care in the world (because of the free market) and the exceptional doctors and medical staff. This associate of Sen. Brown acted as if government was the answer to everything....forgetting the benevolence of doctors and charities.

This associate said that Sen. Brown is not on federal health care benefits. He is probably on his wife's medical coverage. But if the government takes over all health care eventually, you can bet those two will hop right back into the elitist government health care benefits. We danced all over this guy when he handed us a crock.

We mentioned a "referendum" on Senator Brown or any other Senator who votes for this health care "deform" bill.

This associate of Sen. Brown tried to paint us in a corner like we were some fringe group. He obviously does not know that each of us represents thousands of like-minded citizens. Every call, email, letter, represents thousands. We are not just single taxpayers with a gripe. We are U.S.A. patriots who want to save our country and its future. The little twit was a bit condescending and forever presenting the democrat, socialists talking points. So does that mean Sherrod Brown is just Senator to the socialists? Did he or the democrats ever bother to look at the free market alternatives that would not create a government bureaucracy? No.

One man asked repeatedly if Sen. Brown read the Cap and Trade bill. After repeatedly asking that question, the Brown associate could only answer that his aides read it.

Also, we discussed Cap and Trade issues, the Stimulus Package (I & II) and TARP.....and why government keeps punishing businesses and overtaxing and overburdening citizens through all the hidden taxes that get passed on to us. We want Stimulus I to be repealed.

And another..

A large number (30 or so) went into Brown’s office to express our thoughts and to hear what Brown had to say. The 5 min conversation developed into a 1 and ½ hour discussion. A strong message was delivered. The “one thing” that came out of that meeting for me was that Brown is representing a constituency that does not include us.

Senator Brown is part of the committee creating the draft healthcare plan. The current plan is available online. It includes a government insurance provision but individuals will be able to keep their insurance (temporarily). Call his office, be relentless, get your friends to call, educate the public.

The most significant thing to me was the large number of average folks passing through the lobby at the Galleria. They see us with signs and knew we were not happy campers. Many had NO clue. Some made negative comments. Most were in another world. It made me think about pre-Hitler Germans that were just going through life with out any awareness of the terrible future they had. My view is that if things continue down this path were will see a future that will shock us. Many of those who think we are silly today will wish they had gotten involved only to find out it is too late. Very strange time we are living in.

Well well. It looks like we'll be making more visits until they start to "get it".

Health Care Tea Party After-Action Report

As they are still coming in, I have not seen the totals for the nationwide numbers, but if OH was any indication, but I am overly confident this was a smashing success. Now we will have to wait to see how effective it was, and I believe a difference was made. Here is a post at American Power highlighting some of the events at the nationwide Tea Party Patriot Health Care rallys.

On the Cleveland front, Patriot Brian manned the Kucinich office, Diana, head of the Cleveland 9.12 group and CTPP supporter, lead up the efforts at Sherrod Browns office for us. I was at the sleeper's office - Marcia Fudge. I call Fudge a sleeper as many people are not yet familiar with her. Fudge will make the late Stephanie Tubbs-Jones look like a conservative. This woman is driven by entitlement type of thinking and race-driven politics.

On to the report...

From Brian at the Kookcinich location;
Where to begin? Our group was lively and about 80 strong.

Very interesting to see the reactions of the cars passing by on busy Detroit Avenue. Reactions ranged from wild horn honking and raised fists of defiant support, to ambivilence, to confusion, with a very few hostiles.

The Kucinich staffers were caught entirely off guard. They did come out to speak with us, making every effort to be good soldiers for their boss. They listened, occassionally responded, asked for our individual names and specific questions (this did not play well with some). At one point, one of the staffers wondered out loud if we had been paid by outside interests to show up for an hour. This elicited the indigant response you imagined it would and showed us all that these libs just don't get it. We are here, we're for real, and we're not going anywhere. I think they now have a sense of that where they did not a few short hours ago.

I did give them the List Of Questions from Teaparty.org and they promised a reply. Uh-Huh........riiiiiiiiiight.

We did what we set out to do. Now we need to follow up and follow through.

I have been going to tea parties from their inception. There was a real undercurrent of anger at this one. I think people understand that they are tightening the screws and that there is urgency in all of this. We were, of course, civil but one has to wonder how long that will last.

I want to ask these folks, "What makes you think that the hard-working among us are going to sit by while you redistribute wealth as you see fit? What makes you think we won't push back? Do you really think you can govern without the support of the industrious?"

Anyway, we did our jobs and can't wait to do it again.

Brian... and it was a job done well!

From Diana on the Sherrod Brown location;

Our protest exceeded my every expectation. I anticipated maybe 10 - based on the sickly number of RSVP's. But there were over 30 of us, and I don't know how many more, because some contingent went straight up to Brown's office, while the other 30 were on the sidewalk. TV8 Fox showed up.

At about 12:45 we went up to Brown's office, and it's a good thing I had called the office the day before. It got our protest signs past the security lady who was presiding over her petty fiefdom and expedited our passage into the elevators. Brad, a 26-year old staffer, met with all 30 of us in the conference room. I gave him the questionnaire and the press release on the bill removing Congress's exemption from national health care. Brad the Brat was unprepared for the level of anger, articulately expressed by most of the citizenry, and was pretty condescending (even so, I wrote him a thank you, as we are supposed to be the grown-ups).

My report on the 9.12 page does not quite reflect what we thought of him - but it's a semi-public record. Brad could not get it through his head that government health care = rationed health care. He continues to insist that the Senator opposed rationed care. Well, that's what we are up against. This group challenged him effectively, and then he just got snarky.

What I got from the meeting - which lasted over an hour, was (1) Brown doesn't care what his constituents want, his office just goes through the motions (2) he might be persuaded for whatever reason to vote no on cap and trade, even though he is 100% wrong on the causes of climate cycles. (3) He's a lost cause on healthcare.

Even though Brown appears to be a clueless cad, tries protecting himself from the public with a paid storm trooper and his office is staffed by a little snot-nosed, snarky, not so thrilled-spitless staffer paid for with our tax dollars -- Diana's & the others efforts at this location -- was surely NOT a lost cause!

My report from the discreetly hidden offices of Rep. Marcia Fudge...
Upon arriving, we went in Fudges office, introduced ourselves and asked if Rep. Fudge was available. The aide stated Fudge was at the Wolstein Center for a seminar. We then handed him the TPP Health Care quiz for Fudges with the instructions one where she could forward her answers and then kindly asked if would like to join us.

At Fudges office we had 17 the whole time and then a few people stopped by during lunch and a couple even pulled over and joined us. We even had a Bedford Councilman (a registered Democrat) come out and join us. All together we had about 20-25 people show up through the hour. Shortly after we started, the horns started honking in support of our efforts.

During the time we were there, we had several people stop, and then voice their support after learning what we were doing. Some even stuck around and joined us. One gentleman left work after a fellow worker told him about the protest. He said he loved it and had to come and make sure it was true!

The manager at the Citizens Bank next to Fudge's office came out and stated that we were hurting her business by protesting against Fudge. ( I wonder if they got bail out money Though she was dealt with kindly, she was told socialized health care would hurt her bank much more than our protest. Funny that as the bank employees were going for lunch, most gave us a thumbs up and a acknowledging nod of approval.

For the District Fudge represents, I am thrilled with the turn out we had. In fact, I am happier than Obama would be at a Saul Alinsky book club meeting or a Rev. Wright sermon. This S/E area of Cleveland is a democrat stronghold. I really thought we would only get maybe 3 or 4 other people.

For those curious about the content of the Tea Party Patriot Health Care quiz delivered to these tormented electors, you can read it here. Kookcinich, Brown & Fudge were asked to submit their answers back to us no later than Tuesday July 21. They were informed that the answers will be made public. They were informed "no comment" is unacceptable and/or failure to reply would indicate a "refusal to answer."

NOW WHAT?
Now we pick up the phones and work on the Blue Dog Democrats. I called them yesterday and the voicemails of all but one were full. That means we need to call them again, and again and again. We need to fill their voice mails up every day. This will only take about 5-10 minutes of your time.

There are eight “Blue Dog Democrats” who sit on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. If these eight Democrats do not support the terrible House version of the health care bill, we may be able to stop it.
It is CRITICAL to contact them TODAY and make your voice heard.
John Barrow (GA-12) (202) 225-2823
Bart Gordon (TN-06) (202) 225-4231
Baron Hill (IN-09) (202) 225-5315
Jane Harman (CA-36) (202) 225-8220
Jim Matheson (UT-02) (202) 225-3011
Charlie Melancon (LA-03) (202) 225-4031
Mike Ross (AR-04) (202) 225-3772
Zack Space (OH-18) (202) 225-6265
In another twist, we aks you to also contact your congressperson and urge them to put our money where their health is. Ask your congress critter to support HRes. 615.
This resolution states that, "Members who vote in favor of the establishment of a public, Federal Government run health insurance option are urged to forgo their right to participate in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) and agree to enroll under that public option."

A letter from a Patriot

Today I got this email from a fellow Cleveland Tea Party Patriot. Read on my friends...

I am severely insulted.

I am insulted by the liberal members of congress and the people who put them there,
and by the mainstream media who diligently strives to keep them there. I am insulted by
our education system that refuses to educate students about the founding of our country
and its principles and values.

I am proud to say that I served my country at a time when it was needed most. Of three
and one half years of active duty, two years were spent in Viet Nam trying to control the
spread of communism. Now sixty-six million uninformed, misinformed, and/or just plain
stupid voters have put a communist in the White House. If this offends you, it’s just too
bad. You either drank the Kool – Aid or still have your head in the sand. And I am
insulted by it. Every veteran should be.

This country is headed for Hell in a hurry with an inexperienced, illegitimate buffoon at
the controls and it’s going to take a miracle to stop it and reverse its direction. We need
another American Revolution, but I’m too old to fight and I can’t shoot very straight any
more. The next revolution has to be civilized and non-violent. The next revolution has to
be at the polls. My suggestion is to vote out any incumbent, unless you are sure he or
she is on “our” side, the side of low taxes and limited government.

To prevent what happened at the last election, we must do our homework before the
vote is actually cast. If you don’t have the time to do the research, don’t vote. It’s not
your civic duty to vote. A very wise man once said “if you don’t know what you’re doing,
don’t do it”. Our president never proved his citizenship, never released his higher
education records, and never should have been a candidate.

And don’t rely on your friends and family members for information about the candidates.
They might have got the word form an “unfriendly” who wants the enemy elected. Never
listen to what the candidate promises. Both Hitler and Castro promised “change” and
were elected on that promise. And the change was bestowed upon them!.

If the candidate is an elected official, check his voting record. He must consistently vote
in favor of the constitution and the rule of law. If he's not already elected, he should be a
successful businessman, who has been responsible for his profit and loss. If he’s a
lawyer, or a union member, he’s probably not a good candidate.

As this paper is titled, this is strictly my opinion. Use this information as a guide. I don’t
think that the party you vote for matters much anymore, as long as the candidate knows
and respects the constitution and the values set forth by the founding fathers.

Thanks for reading this and letting me vent. If I sound frustrated, I am. I just think we
have to do something. I am not content to sit idly by and watch our federal leadership
break all the rules and have nobody try to stop it. We have a system of checks and
balances and nobody is watching the store. If they can’t be stopped, they must be
replaced.

In the mean time, don’t be afraid to write your congress critters. Let them know what’s
on your mind. Even if you think they won’t read it, or don’t care what you think, keep the
pressure on. Some congressmen recently admitted they changed their vote because of
the flood of hate mail.

If you think this can help our cause, please forward it to everybody in your address
book. Maybe it will reach enough people to make a difference.

One very insulted Viet Nam veteran.

Are you insulted? I am. And if your not, you should be because your either brainwashed or not paying attention. The freemarket is crumbling, the government debt is unsustainable. Think of government debt as a ball and chain that's attached to every living, breathing American. Right now we are staggering to stay on our feet and if we go down, we ain't getting back up. And all the while, the government keeps spending and making a mockery of every tax paying American. They make the problems, and we pay for them. Only this time, not wanting to waste a good crisis, while your wearing balls and chains, they're eating every last morsel in your kitchen. WAKE UP AMERICA!

ALG Calls Upon House to Adopt Fleming Resolution
Calling for End to Congressional Exemption from Obama Health Care

July 16th, 2009, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government president, Bill Wilson, today called upon members of the House of Representatives to adopt a resolution (H. Res. 615) stating that "Members who vote in favor of the establishment of a public, Federal Government run health insurance option are urged to forgo their right to participate in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) and agree to enroll under that public option."

The measure is sponsored by Congressman John Fleming and
currently has 42 cosponsors. On his website, Fleming writes, "Under the current draft of the Democrat healthcare legislation, members of Congress are curiously exempt from the government-run health care option, keeping their existing health plans and services on Capitol Hill. If Members of Congress believe so strongly that government-run health care is the best solution for hard working American families, I think it only fitting that Americans see them lead the way."

"What's good for the goose is good for the gander," said ALG's Wilson. "If members of the House are expecting everyone to be a part of this government-run system, then they should be taken off the Federal Employee Health Benefits Plan and put on to this so-called public 'option' since they like it so much."

Currently, members of the House and Senate are covered by a health care plan offering a wide variety of options, including private coverage,
according to the Federal Employee Health Benefits Plan website, "Federal employees, retirees and their survivors enjoy the widest selection of health plans in the country."

As participants, members of Congress can choose from "Consumer-Driven and High Deductible plans that offer catastrophic risk protection with higher deductibles, health savings/reimbursable accounts and lower premiums, or Fee-for-Service (FFS) plans, and their Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO), or Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) if you live (or sometimes if you work) within the area serviced by the plan."

"It's time for Washington to stop acting like an aristocracy, where Congress treats itself to luxuries and forces everybody else into convoluted, inefficient, and low-quality so-called 'options,'" said Wilson.

"Members of Congress know that the system they are proposing will be much, much worse than the health options they currently have," Wilson added. "What they need to acknowledge is that it will also be much, much worse than the options the American people currently have."

Wilson also called upon the House Committees on Education and Labor, Ways and Means, and Energy and Commerce to adopt a binding measure that would require all members of Congress to enroll in the government-run health insurance option if lawmakers adopt one.

A similar provision, proposed by Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK), has already been adopted in the Senate version of the bill. In order for it to be included in the House version, the "three-in-one" committee currently considering the legislation needs to add it in.

The Coburn amendment passed by a vote of 12-11 in committee with Senators Chris Dodd (D-Conn) and Ted Kennedy (D-Mass) voting with Senators John McCain (R-Ariz), Orrin G Hatch (R-Utah), Richard Burr (R-NC), Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn), Tom Coburn (R-Okla), Pat Roberts (R-Kan), Judd Gregg (R-NH), Johnny Isakson (R-Ga), and Mike Enzi (R-Wyo) in favor.

In committee, Senator Coburn said, "Let's demonstrate leadership—and confidence in the system—by requiring that every member of Congress go into it." 11 Democratic members voted no, including Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.), who said, "I don't know why we should require ourselves to participate in a plan that no one else needs to participate in."

"Senator Bingaman is still sticking to the big lie that the public 'option' will at all be optional," said Wilson.

"The unfortunate impact of this government-run health care proposal will be to crowd out private options, leaving Americans in the end with no other option but to use the Orwellian, abominable, government-run plan that will burden taxpayers with an insurmountable level of debt. This will be the largest government entitlement in human history, and it will break the public treasury," Wilson concluded.

Sign Our On-line Petition Against Socialized Hellthcare

The National Tea Party Patriots would like to ask you to support & sign our online petition at
www.freeourhealthcarenow.com.

Our goal is to obtain 1,000,000 signatures on the petition before it is delivered to Washington. With your help, we can reach this goal! If you support our efforts and are against socialized "hellthcare" please forward this to your friends.

I am confident in stating that we can all agree some sort of fix needs to be done in addressing the health care problems in our country - but socialized medicine is not the answer. The latest proposals will have the government taxing our medical insurance deductions and imposing a $1000 fine on anyone refusing coverage.

Name the Useless Political Aide Award Contest

Hello Patriots,

Thanks for taking part in this historical event - the first ever Cleveland Tea Party Patriot Award! As we all know there comes a time in a persons life where their accomplishments need to be recognized - and this we will do - but we need your help.

In our recent visit to Columbus we visted the offices of our State Senators. Walking into Senator Gibbs's office we were greeted by a greasy fingered, fried potato slice (chips) eating (stuffing her face) flunkie being paid on our dime. This "can't eat just one" aide & her potato chip crumb decorated shirt embodies all that is wrong with our government.

Trying to explain the reason of our visit and our concerns about the proposed budget, this chip-crunching chick seemed more concerned about getting the last crumb from the corner of her $.99 bag of chips!

With this, we need your help in naming a Useless Politcal Aide Award. Before putting your crayons to paper,
click here and read CTPP Co-coordinator Glynn's complete description of the incident on our CTPP Blog. I bet hot steam coming from Glynn's ears as this chip chomping took place aided global warming by melting a few more icebergs.

We will conduct a vote on the best submittals. I will start if off and offer the first two suggestions;

  • Tea Party Patriot Putz of the Week Award
  • Tea Party Patriot Sewer Pickle of the Week Award
After a winning title is selected we will send the posting of the award to all in the State House and we will personally deliver the targeted cud-chewer a bag of chips on behalf of the Cleveland Tea Party Patriots.

Cap and Trade and the death of the American Dream

I was blessed to have been raised in a wonderful family. We were taught to work hard, to be honest, to have faith in God, to respect our Elders and to never ever quit. We raised and sold corn, fresh milk and eggs. We raised turkeys (wouldn’t recommend that one), and grew every kind of fruit and vegetable you could in a small field in Idaho. Once when I was a kid, my father told me the story of how he and his father used to take the nails out of every piece of scrap wood they came across. My Grandpa Buck survived The Great Depression, and nothing was wasted. I recall the stories about when there was little to eat they would break up bread and pour milk and honey over it and that would be dinner. No complaints, they were glad to have it. I have copies of several of my ancestors’ journals and have poured over them and gotten to know who they were. They walked and pushed handcarts across hundreds of miles to settle in western states. They also buried loved ones along the way. They were pioneers, patriots and they were survivors. They believed in the opportunities afforded by the American Dream. That belief, coupled by hard work, has been passed on and that pioneer spirit runs through my veins.

Last week, our House of Representatives sold off another piece of the American Dream. It didn’t matter how many people stood up to defend her by calling, faxing, emailing. It didn’t matter how loud and how long we said we just can’t afford any more, they sold us out. They continue to day by day, prove that the only interests they represent are their own and whoever is scratching their backs. They have proved that common sense and Congress don’t belong in the same sentence.

Below is an email I recieved from one of my "people" and it is here with permission.

The so called Cap and Trade bill will, in fact, be the largest tax increase in the history of America. It is being sold as a way to make us energy independent and green.

First, wind and solar have been tried in European countries and have been found to be woefully lacking. British Petroleum announced this week they are stopping R&D in wind until further scientific, electronic, and electrical developments can be developed. There are many studies and statistics available so I need not try to parrot these. The fact is this bill, in whatever its final form, will be the most costly piece of legislation ever introduced into any country in the world under any guise.

Beyond that:

1. This bill has the typical cost impact/implementations and graduations built into it that Congress is so fond of. It is the old “put the toad in a pan of cold water and gradually boil him.” Immediate to us these graduations will serve to place a strangle hold on Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, and Kentucky because these states are not only big time coal producers but generate their electric power using coal. Coal, as a hard commodity, generates a huge amount of revenue each year, both for the companies that mine, process, ship it, and use the coal but each of these steps produces state tax revenue. Over time this bill will suffocate each of these processes as well as the resulting state taxes. This will serve to force the states to go to Washington and the Federal Government for operating funds.

Every American has seen the results of this move. It will further indebt the states to the Federal Government thereby deteriorating states rights and placing more and more federal control over all the states.

2. This bill will tax the power producing companies as well as all companies that use fossil fuel in any form. These costs will accelerate over time and the resulting costs will be passed on to consumers. Conservative estimates from governmental accounting sources as well as independent think tanks puts the average cost of at least $800.00 annually for every man woman and child. These costs will come in the form of higher energy prices and the resulting higher costs for all American made products. With all the talk and debate about this bill I have yet to hear any mention of the added costs that will most certainly be levied against diesel powered trains and the trucking industry. These levies alone will dramatically drive up the cost of every consumable that is used by every American. The most notable of these commodities is food.

3. This bill will give the Environmental Protection Agency an unlimited amount of power and authority never before seen in this country. Having just gone through a 24 month battle with the OEPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers I can, with first hand experience, say that these agencies live by their own rules. The width and breadth of their assumed authority is virtually without limits. The U.S. Supreme Court found against these governmental agencies in 2008. The result was that the Senate came out and said the USACE would be granted more, not less power and authority. The USACE then proceeded to completely and totally ignore the high Court ruling. The Cap and Trade Bill open the door to putting Federal EPA agents in your very home. (This is not a scare tactic). During the Clinton administration, the head of the Department of Labor Robert Rousch tried unsuccessfully to bring all household products such as cleaning agents, laundry soap, glass cleaners and the like under control of the Federal OSHA. This action would have allowed, by law, Federal OSHA inspectors to come into your home to inspect what products you might own, to see that Material Safety Data Sheets were posted in your home, that all family members, under federally approved training plans were trained in the use of all these household items and to levy fines in cases of infractions.

4. Prior to the last elections Mr. Obama clearly said that if a coal fired power plant was begun, under his administration it would never be completed. The attitude of his administration is openly against clean coal technology. High grade coal is one of America’s finest and most plentiful natural resources. Under this administration the mining and use of this natural resource will be virtually stopped. In addition further R&D into cleaner coal technology will be stopped.

5. It seems most odd to me that President Obama campaigned hard for votes in the main coal producing and coal using states of Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Indiana; making multitudes of promises related to how he would work to better their economies. In fact he knew all the time that his allegiance was to the Environmentalists and to his Socialist agenda. Why? Because the environmentalists gave so much money to him and do give and support democratic politicians. Another huge piece if this puzzle is that environmentalists thrive in a socialist society and socialism is the dream and goal of this administration.

6. The battle against the cap and trade bill is up a steep hill. We Americans who are informed and are battling against this monstrous power grab will not be fighting only against Washington Liberal Democrats. The reported 300 page amendment to the bill in the House of Representatives contained buy outs and pay off’s. It goes like this. There were congressional hold outs whose votes were needed by the leadership. The leadership also knew the holdouts wanted something for their vote and that it could be bought. So following closed room negotiations the amendment was written and it contained the pay offs. So and So from such and such a state gets 5 billion dollars for such and such. (Remember the Stimulus Bill and the Omnibus Bill and those billions upon billions of taxpayer dollars that are being held in Washington? What do you think the money is going to be used for? A large piece of it will be used to buy representatives votes in order to pass Cap and Trade and for the passage of the Federal medical scheme. In addition there are very powerful entities that want this legislation to become law. General Electric, for example, will develop such items as water timer control valves that will be mandated by law (this is not a scare tactic…it is in the bill to control the use of all energy and that include hot water). The length of time you will be allowed to shower will be controlled. Goldman Sachs and the rest of Wall Street want this bill to become law because the permits controlling carbon dioxide emissions will be traded on wall street! And you can bet the Federal Lawmakers, who are not controlled by the insider trading laws that we the “common folks” are will make tons of money off this legislation. Phillips, the makers of light bulbs loves this bill. It has new products that only the giants can produce written all over it. This bill, if passed, will impact and federally control each state’s building codes. Federally developed and mandated building codes will be injected into each state’s building codes. This will have an immense cost impact on the price of engineering, design and construction of all construction. Michele Bachmen, Representative from Minnesota said the House version that was passed contained a provision that all states would be forced to adopt the California State Building Code. Even the color of vehicle you will be able to buy will be mandated. There will, eventually, be no more black or dark colored automobiles sold in America. So much for freedom of choice.

7. The Obama administration has shown it’s true colors. To say it is a radical left wing organization is, in my opinion, putting it its most mild form. Two hundred and fifty years ago the battle against England was a battle for states rights. A reading of the letter from King George declaring an end to the revolutionary war clearly spells out that fact and that states were considered separate entities; even bordering on separate countries. The United States, a phrase coined by Thomas Paine, meant united countries or separate state entities united for a common cause and for the common good. The internal conflicts that took place during the confirmation of the Declaration of Independence, The Bill of Rights and the Constitution mostly had to do with states rights.

Every American saw what happened to General Motors. As soon as they asked for federal money they also opened the door to federal control. The same thing has been happening between the states and Washington for years.

Under this administration, however, the pace is quickened and the agenda is to socialize by bringing every state under full control of the federal government. It is being done through such innocent sounding “programs” as the school lunch program, the clean water act, the federal highway improvement programs funded in part by federal gasoline taxes, Medicaid, Medicare, the Department of Agriculture and the soon to be cap and tax act.

Throughout the coarse of history Americans have fought many battles. Every one of them was meaningful and every one was costly. This battle however, the battle against the so called cap and trade legislation is, in the opinion of many THE GREAT PIVOTAL BATTLE OF OUR LIFETIME.

If this legislation can be stopped it will dramatically slow down the ongoing federal grab for states control. If it cannot be stopped the ramifications are mind boggling. It will signal the beginning of the end for American manufacturing, for America;s growth and development and will serve to stagnate our country.

With the simple stroke of a pen the President of the United States of America will open the flood gates and the washing away of all American’s Freedoms will begin.

Who will take a stand to defend the Amerian Dream? Will it become just a memory and something we tell our children's children about that used to exist? My ancestors and the battles they fought for me, is the reason I will continue to fight and stand for the sacrifices of those who have gone before me.

I'll leave you with the words of my father, a talented singer and a gifted songwriter.

I witness George Washington's army
Who fought without shoes on their feet
So many who since fell to battle
Protecting our home from defeat
Protecting our land and our freedoms
Believing they ever would stand
Looked down upon those who destroyed her
Who now had all that blood on their hands.

The gloves are coming off!!

On Monday, a group of Cleveland Tea Party Patriots went to go play the game “cat and mouse” at the State House. After several committee meetings were canceled regarding the Ohio budget, and then rescheduled for Monday, we took our chances and drove to Columbus. Halfway there, we get the call that it’s been canceled again. We’d already rearranged our work and children’s schedules, so we decided to plow forward and try to turn chicken s**t into chicken salad. We decided to visit all senate offices with a quick intro of who we were, how many we represented and three quick talking points to pass to their bosses. One of the messages was to keep ALL EARMARKS out of the budget.

The first office we went to was Senator Grendell’s. This was the only Senator’s office, with an aide kind enough to invite us to sit down, and took a few moments to answer some of our questions. Ms. Crowe gave us a lot of information on where the Senator stood on some current budget issues and wished us well, on our journey to other offices.

Well, saddle up Patriots because it was a rough ride from there. A couple Senator’s aids were polite, but I sensed no real motivation or urgency whatsoever to help us. Overall, it felt like a bad zombie movie. You know the ones where you’re normal and talking to someone who looks normal but nobody’s home?? Well my friends, that’s the State House for you. They look normal, but they’re not. If you want to get a real clear picture of why we’re in such a hot mess, go do what we did, but take your Zoloft with you.

I don’t expect a damn spa treatment with a non-fat mocha latte when I drop into my Senator’s office with my questions or concerns. But I do expect the same respect that my staff gives to our customers. Everybody says that if government operated like a business we’d be a lot better off. Well they’re right, and a couple senators in particular need to drop kick some staff to the curb. I can’t fire them, but I can and will call them on the carpet, and unapologetically so. We pay for you to sit there; we get to tell you when you suck at your job.

My first victim is going to be Senator Gibb’s front desk aide. Picture this. Upon entering that office, she was sitting behind her desk holding a bag of chips. We stood there, while she just looks at us, and if I’m lying I’m dying, continues to eat chips. No “Hello”, no “Can I help you?” Nope, nada, nothing. This girl just stares up at us and eats. We told her who we were, why we were there and asked her to leave Senator Gibbs a message. She sighs, puts her hand back in the chip bag and looks up at the ceiling then pops another chip in her mouth. She made no attempt to even pretend to be respectful to the people her boss works for.

Well Chip Girl, shame on us, apparently we interrupted snack time. She must have caught the look of horror on my face because at one point, she pulled her hand out of the bag with no chips in hand, slouched her shoulders forward and then rolled her eyes. She was like some spoiled nitwit teenager who just was told to clean her room. It was truly unbelievable.

On our way out the door we mention the library protest that was happening outside. This is when she apparently decided to get her face out of her bag of chips and finally swallowed enough food to speak. With enough attitude to cut diamonds, the compulsive chip eater says “The Library funding isn’t an earmark”, rolls her eyes, takes a deep breath like we’re something to be wiped off her shoe and proceeds to shove more chips in her mouth.

With all the attitude flying around her I didn’t catch her name, so she will be forever referred to amongst us as the “chip eating nitwit.” We left there and stopped outside the office and looked at each other in disbelief. Senator Gibbs should be congratulated for having a staff that really knows how to show that he cares. If she worked for me, and I witnessed that, she would have been fired ON THE SPOT. If she was my daughter, I would have grabbed the bag of chips, told her to sit up straight, wipe that smug look off her face and show some respect.

Evidently, it is mostly the lobbyists who drop in to visit Senators. I want to know who lobbies for the taxpayer. Who lobbies for the taxpayers who say “enough?” Who lobbies for the Constitution? To steal a quote from an April 15th speaker at our Cleveland tea party, “The Government should account for every penny they take from us.” Amen sister. Well guess what you chip eating nitwit? You’re parked in that chair because of the taxpayers. And if you can’t even pretend to be pleasant, maybe bill collecting would be more up your alley. You can get paid to be nasty, and due to the current economic crisis, I’ve heard business is booming.

You are supposed to answer to us, account to us, listen to us, and help us. So in the future, when us regular folk come for a visit to those we put into office, a little more respect from your staff would be fabulous. Think, “Oh look, here’s my meal ticket” kind of respect.

So, in the spirit of kindness, I’ll share some free tips from a girl who has trained a few office managers in her day. If I, as a business owner must train people well, then I expect the same from you. Please feel free to add this to your own training packets as part of your Human Resources program.

1. When you say you’ll take a message, take a message. A piece of paper and a no.2 pencil are nice. If there is some new technology that includes an invisible, robotic pen with magic ink that secretly takes messages, then I apologize. It’s just that since I didn’t see anyone physically take a message, I, the customer, got the impression that you had no intention of relaying the message. And remember, the customer (taxpayer) always comes first.

2. Try to not look so surprised when people walk in and ask to speak to the Senator. The deer in the headlights look isn’t comforting to the taxpayer. And in case this is because regular concerned citizens don’t stop by for a visit enough, for training purposes we will volunteer to schedule more Ohio Tea Party Patriots to routinely visit with our latest “message”.

3. Even if you don’t care, try to pretend that you do. It makes a girl like me feel like I didn’t pollute the environment driving 240 miles for nothing. Save the Earth right?

4. You are a reflection of your boss. If you are rude, arrogant, and dismissive, and have a smart-ass smirk on your face, then we’ll assume your boss is that way too. If this doesn’t bother your boss, he should be fired at the next election. If you are cool and look me in the eye, maybe crack a joke (shout out to Mr. Youngstown) I’ll assume your boss is cool and a straight-shooter too.

5. If it’s a busy day and you’re eating on the fly when a customer (the taxpayer) walks in, discreetly slide the food over and ask “Hello, can I help you?” Eating in front of a customer is not only rude, but maybe they are hungry from roaming the halls of the State house trying to get you to do your job. If Senator’s aides eat in front of the hungry, taxed enough already taxpayers, it may be considered discriminatory and unfair and worthy of a “redistribution of lunch” program. Since we can’t afford anymore programs, and to avoid any problems with the ACLU we recommend not eating in front of the constituents at all.

And to you, you chip eating nitwit, your behavior was deplorable. But I must credit you as the inspiration behind my new idea. On my long drive home, and after talking to the team, we’ve decided that we will begin giving awards to the wastes of space in government. So, on July 3rd at the Cleveland Freedom Fest, we will ask the thousands who gather, to email us with suggestions as to what the name of the award should be. We will then put a pole on our site and let them vote. After all, that’s how the system works right?? As a consolation prize for being the inspiration behind this yet to be named award, upon my next visit I will personally spring for a bag of rippled Lays potato chips. In the future dear, might I recommend the baked and not fried variety?

With blistered feet I made my way back to my Government Motors vehicle and dug in my purse for my valet ticket as the guy asks how my day was. My response as I pointed across the street the State House, “Oh it was great. Go spend a couple hours over there and you’ll get why we are all so screwed.”
More to follow….You can bet on it.
