In his column “Destroying Meritocracy Is Deadly” at Townhall, Victor Davis Hanson discusses the decline in the aviation industries, both commercial and military, but his concerns could as easily be about the medical, educational, agricultural, energy and other professions. VDH concludes:

. . . America's security, safety, prosperity, and postmodern lifestyles are not our birthright.

They are the dividends of centuries of prior hard work, unfettered freedom of speech, disinterested research, and a meritocracy.

Tamper with any of that and the system begins to fall apart.

The United States will then resemble the miasma we see in most of the world abroad where ideology suppresses free inquiry, political correctness warps research, and tribalism trumps meritocracy.

Many of the major airlines have established racial and gender quotes for government pilot training programs. United Airlines has set quotas to ensure half of its trainees will be minorities or women. Since 2013, the FAA has been lowering standards for air traffic control qualifications to achieve de facto race and gender quotas.

In testimony before Congress our top military brass has bragged not of their reduction in standards for enlistment, but of their "diversity" hiring, as they purportedly ferret out "white supremacy" and "white rage."

In sum, our government is playing with our lives as it prefers diversity, equity, and inclusion over ensuring the best qualified employees are hired on the basis of racially and gender-blind competitive tests and experience.

Keep it up, and there are going to be a lot more Afghanistan-style surrenders, Chinese surveillance craft in our skies, and airline nightmares.

Another misnomer: “Civics Secures Democracy Act”

John Fonte at American Mind reports on yet more initiatives to erase America’s past history and culture with progressive ideology.  Here’s his closing:

Legislation currently before Congress would implement this woke revolution in history-civics education. It would implement the teaching of Critical Race Theory and de-legitimize America’s Founders, our principles, and our stories. The legislation is the Civics Secures Democracy Act introduced by Democrat Senator Chris Coons of Delaware and Republican Senator John Cornyn of Texas.

The bill provides six billion dollars over six years in competitive grants to states, local school districts; nonprofits; and to university schools of education for teacher training. It requires a national test on history-civic knowledge that would be developed by educators chosen by the Biden Administration.

. . .

Across our nation, in promoting civic education, many in the Republican and conservative establishment seek “consensus” and “common ground” with the woke progressives. But what common ground is there with those who defame the founders as “enslavers”; portray America’s story as one of “systemic racism”; and reject the principle of human equality exemplified in the Declaration of Independence in favor of “equity” as manifested in the ubiquitous dogma of DEI?

Instead of playing a subordinate role in phony “consensus” projects dominated overwhelmingly by the progressive Left, conservatives should develop solid, accurate, patriotic curricular materials as a distinct alternative to the progressive narrative. This is already happening with Governor DeSantis’s reforms in Florida and the work of National Association of Scholars.

 At the end of the day, we must realize that this is not a simply an academic argument, or merely a policy dispute over history and civics education, but a life and death regime struggle over the American Way of Life.

There is no greater flip-flopper in the world than Anthony Fauci. It’s not just that he’s able to change his perspectives back and forth at will; there are plenty of politicians and bureaucrats who do that well. But Fauci takes it up several notches by not only justifying it inexplicably by claiming to hold to “science,” but also by somehow keeping a straight face every time he debunks himself, which is quite often.

A video posted to Twitter shows a compilation of Fauci vs Fauci incidents. Since it’s on Twitter it’s limited to just over two minutes long of Fauci’s greatest flip-flopping hits, but one could easily compile hours of footage where the medical tyrant backtracks, retracks, and takes his own narratives completely off the rails.

The worst part about all this isn’t that Fauci is driven by agenda, though that’s bad enough. The worst part is that millions of brainwashed Americans still believe this guy is credible. This is due in large part by the Biden-Harris regime’s unwillingness to call him out as well as mainstream media incessantly propping him up, but here’s the thing. Americans have a responsibility to educate themselves. The information is readily available. There is an overabundance of evidence that Fauci is an evil, narcissistic, totalitarian pawn of the architects of The Great Reset. Those who don’t realize this are delusional.

The science doesn’t “evolve” as Fauci often says. The narrative surrounding the science evolves. Nothing in the science has changed about face masks since the initial studies released last year showed they don’t stop Covid-19 and can be detrimental to those who wear them for any extended period of time. The only things that keep changing are the short-term goals of Fauci’s puppetmasters, and they use him to play the public like little children fawning over a birthday party magician.
