Update: Build the Wall

Last December, this blog linked to We The People Will Build the Wall, a project announced by veteran Brian Kolfage; see here. Now Ralph King has posted the following:

Fellow Patriots :

As you know President Trump has declared an National Emergency on our southern border. President Trump also needs our help to deal with this national crisis and below there are several ways you can immediately start to help in Ohio and at a national level.

To do that, I have been working closely to support the We Build The Wall, Inc. to expand their efforts, energy and base.  In their efforts to grow the volunteer base, they are starting to create state-based Facebook pages - the Ohio Volunteer affiliate page is Ohio Wall Builders

Below is exciting & important news from We Build The Wall, Inc. President Brian Kolfage regarding the upcoming historic Wall groundbreaking in April!

Make no mistake - without the financial and moral support of patriots like you from across the US & the hard work of everyone involved at We Build The Wall, Inc., this groundbreaking would not be possible.

Here is how you can make it grow:
1.) Join the Ohio Wall Builders Page on Facebook (Click Here to Join)

2.) Invite your family, friends and fellow patriots to join the Ohio Wall Builder (Here) page and We Build the Wall, Inc. Facebook Page (Here)

3.) Make sure to read the email appended below from We Build The Wall, Inc. President Brian Kolfage on the groundbreaking and how you can help continue growing the Wall efforts.

Important details on the confusing GoFundMe opt-in/opt-out process requirement if you have already donated to make sure your donation is not returned.

Brian Kolfage's email:

Last week when President Trump vetoed a bill that would have prevented him from declaring a national emergency at our border, it was two WeBuildTheWall Advisory Board members that he chose to have flanking him.

April is going to be a big month for this historic project. We anticipate breaking ground on our first segment of wall and on April 11th we will finally be finished with the GoFundMe opt-in/opt-out process that has caused so much confusion.

BREAKING GROUND is our moment and we don't want the refunds to take away from what we've worked so hard to accomplish. That means we only have about two weeks to get our fundraising campaign moving in the right direction!

If you're still with with us, I need you to do two things:

1: Continue to contribute at www.gofundme.com/thetrumpwall

2: Spread the word about what's really happening with WeBuildTheWall to your friends and family. We cannot trust the corporate media to tell the truth about us and we are counting on you to help us get the truth out!
YESTERDAY:
TODAY:
As you can see, yesterday we raised $73,276 which is a GREAT START.

The GoFundMe has been stuck below 21Mil. for months and this weekend we need to finally break through by raising another $211,724.

We can get back to the days where we were all refreshing the GoFundMe page to see how much it increased if you'll continue to spread the word and donate at:

Thank you and God bless,

Brian Kolfage

Build the Wall

H/T Free Republic: A campaign aimed at raising money for a border wall on the crowdfunding website GoFundMe has raised more than $5 million of its $1 billion goal in under four days.

The page, called "We The People Will Fund The Wall," was started by Brian Kolfage, a Purple Heart recipient and triple amputee who lost his legs and an arm during a rocket attack in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The campaign was launched earlier this week with a goal of raising $1 billion to donate to the construction of a wall along the southern border of the U.S. Funding for the wall, a major campaign promise of President Donald Trump, has come under questioning in recent weeks as Trump first hard-lined funding negotiations, then retreated.

Trump threatened a partial government shutdown if Congress couldn't pass a budget that included funding for the wall, which Democrats staunchly opposed. He later backed down from the threat, saying he'd find funding another way and allowing for the passage of a funding bill that'd avert a shutdown.

Kolfage said it's now "our duty as citizens" to raise money for a border wall. In three days, the campaign has raised more than $4 million from nearly 70,000 donors.

"Like a majority of those American citizens who voted to elect President Donald J Trump, we voted for him to Make America Great Again," Kolfage wrote in the campaign. "President Trump's main campaign promise was to BUILD THE WALL. And as he's followed through on just about every promise so far, this wall project needs to be completed still."

Kolfage said the cap is set at $1 billion because that is all GoFundMe allows. He said he is trying to get them to raise the limit.

"If the 63 million people who voted for Trump each pledge $80, we can build the wall," he wrote. "That equates to roughly $5 billion, even if we get half, that's half the wall. We can do this."

In some of the reader comments, several potential donors were waiting to learn how the funds would be managed, how long the project would last, and so forth. Most of these questions and issues are already addressed on the GoFundMe page at the link below. At the time I posted this blog, the total contributed stood at over $5,500,000. And counting.

Mark Steyn on illegal immigration

We can expect a lot of work in 2018 to do what we can to block the passage of DACA, start building the wall, and end chain migration. My fave, Mark Steyn, guest hosted for Rush Limbaugh yesterday, and his segment on illegal immigration and The Wall were reported at both Breitbart (“Mark Steyn: In the End, Trump Presidency ‘Will Stand or Fall on How He Tackles Immigration’”) and on Steyn’s blog page (“The Wall Is All”). The transcript report by Jeff Poor at Breitbart is below.

“[T]here’s a lobby — there’s lobbies for everything in this country,” Steyn said. “And there’s a strong lobby for illegal immigration. There’s a strong lobby for refugees, which again is a completely fraudulent operation by and large. Trump won because a significant [number of voters] were serious about building a wall, about ending illegal immigration and about doing something about people who walk into this country illegally, stay here illegally, take jobs illegally, get driver’s licenses illegally, use Social Security numbers illegally. And at some point … I would have liked him to hold the inauguration ceremony on the southern border and for it to culminate after the oath of office with him ceremonially laying the brick in the wall. But in the end, his presidency will stand or fall on how he tackles immigration.”

Steyn pointed to how low-skilled mass immigration has impacted the American economy, and there is a demand for low-skilled workers. He added that it isn’t just policy for Trump that is important [but] shifting “attitudes” as well.

“In the end, the Trump presidency I believe will stand or fall on how permanently he manages to shift not just the number of people coming into the country, but how he manages to shift attitudes towards remorseless unskilled mass immigration,” Steyn added. “That’s what got him elected, and that’s what [will] actually be the basis on which his presidency is judged.”

Steyn’s page is here. Ann Coulter recently published an article along the same lines, at Townhall and Human Events here. Her take is that if the United States does not stop illegal immigration, then all other issues are essentially academic.
