Steyn pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth

Princess Elizabeth joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS)
in 1945, becoming the first female member of the Royal Family
to join the Armed Services as a full-time active member
(via Daily Mail)

Mark Steyn pays tribute to the life and service of Queen Elizabeth II:

. . .Three-quarters of a century ago, upon the occasion of her twenty-first birthday in 1947, Princess Elizabeth addressed "all the peoples of the British Commonwealth and Empire, wherever they live"

I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.

As princess and queen, Elizabeth II kept that promise to "our great imperial family" through turbulent times that have wholly transformed the world.

. . .

"Vivat Regina" no more. God save the King.

The full column is here.  It is very touching and sad.

Daniel Horowitz has a plan

The ship of state is sinking, but Daniel Horowitz has a plan to counter the Biden Administration’s ongoing power grabs. His outline is at Conservative Review, and here’s his rationale:

. . .If Biden’s speech [the demonic one in Philadelphia] is really to be a turning point in this one-sided cold war that is heating up, conservatives should resolve to use the power they already wield over Republican governors and demand united action for states to protect constitutional rights from this thuggish Biden administration and national security deep state apparatus that threatens our liberties more than any foreign enemy in our history. Rather than making idle promises of winning back the House with RINOs or winning back the presidency years from now when it’s too late, we should be demanding action now from 20 or so GOP trifecta-controlled state governments. If they fail to take action now, then the entire point of federal elections with divided government is moot.

What would a coalition of federalism look like? A group of prominent governors, attorneys general, and state legislative speakers and majority leaders would initiate a declaration in one state – let’s call it the “Miami Declaration,” for example. The declaration would lay out a list of grievances and examples of the federal government violating the rights of the individual: from medical freedom and bodily autonomy to privacy infringement, collusion with big tech against First Amendment rights, and using federal agencies to persecute political opponents. The declaration would pronounce these states to be constitutional sanctuaries that protect all constitutional rights, including against the federal government. . . .

And in closing:

From now until the election, Republicans will seek to distract us with flaccid promises of deliverance in the future. The best way to verify their sincerity is by demanding that they actually use the power they currently hold to counter deeply destructive and unpopular policies from this regime.

The full column is here, and it includes specific suggestions on provisions and recourses that could be in a Declaration.

As an Ohio voter, I have to wonder if Gov DeWine et al have the backbone and motivation to sign on to such a Declaration. So many in the GOPe are Uniparty.  Still, if you think Mr. Horowitz’s plan could be viable, please share the link with family and friends.

Mercola: financial collapse and COVID data

Over the Labor Day weekend, Dr Joseph Mercola interviewed a guy named Edward Dowd and here’s the summary posted at Uncanceled News:

STORY AT-A-GLANCE

  • Edward Dowd is a hedge fund “guru” and former equity portfolio manager for the largest asset manager in the world, BlackRock. Over the past two years, Dowd has courageously come forward to awaken people to the collateral damage of the COVID pandemic
  • A global financial collapse is a mathematical certainty. Dowd predicts the collapse will begin in earnest within the next six to 24 months
  • COVID provided cover for central banks and governments, allowing them to temporarily hide the reality that the financial system is crashing
  • COVID also allowed for the erection of a control system to shield governments and central banks from the fallout from collapsing food, energy and finance systems. It allowed them to restrict travel and introduce digital IDs and central bank digital currencies by linking them together with vaccine passports
  • Insurance companies report a 40% increase in excess mortality among working-age adults during the fourth quarter of 2021. Millennials aged 25 to 44 had an 84% increase in excess mortality in that same timeframe. Since the rollout of the COVID jabs, the number of Americans who claim to be disabled has risen by at least 10%, possibly more

Provoking violence

William A Jacobson is the proprietor of the blogsite Legal Insurrection. He is one of many bloggers to express horror at Biden’s demonic speech in Philadelphia last week:

Joe Biden delivers “one of the most menacing, bitter, angry and divisive speeches in modern US political history”

Watch it. Remember it. Understand that Joe Biden is trying to provoke conflict, he wants it, his handlers want it. They launched this campaign about a month ago. It’s calculated.

My only comment is that “this campaign” goes back much further, to the 2020 summer Antifa & BLM riots, including the one in downtown Cleveland, and also to the 2020 election fraud. From this blog’s June 2020 posting:

And here’s what downtown Cleveland looks like today in the aftermath.  Every door or window that is now boarded-up was deliberately smashed, and in the case of several stores (Geiger’s and Heinen’s among others) looted and trashed.  Clevelanders will recognize downtown restaurants, businesses, theaters, and landmarks.

Click here for gallery of photos (Pat Dooley Photography) witnessing the deliberate destruction of much of downtown Cleveland.

America First economics in a nutshell

A F Branco cartoon

Conservative Treehouse / Sundance's "I Am a MAGA Republican, and Donald Trump is My Weapon" is a good explanation of America First economic policy -- and it is reader-friendly.  Sundance begins:

At a national level there is a unique policy priority that almost every politician, on both sides, will avoid discussing.  At a national level a single policy priority determines all other national policy issues.  That policy is the national economic policy.

The national economic policy of a presidential candidate determines all other national policies that flow from the presidential candidate.  The national economic policy impacts the obvious policies like energy and trade, and also determines the lesser obvious policies like regulation and even foreign policy.

It is specifically because a candidate’s national economic outlook impacts all other issues, that most national politicians never talk about it.

It would be impossible to support Main Street USA, a popular talking point, and still support the Paris climate treaty, the transpacific trade partnership (TPP) or the transatlantic trade and investment partnership (TTIP).

To avoid the contradictions most democrat and republican politicians avoid discussing their national economic policy; it is an unspoken rule within the billionaire club and donor game; an economic code of omerta amid most political candidates.

President Trump broke the rule, and even went so far as to campaign on an America-First economic policy agenda.  . . .

The full article is here, and it concludes with an analogy to a technician who can get rid of all those destructive raccoons in your basement.  Makes it fun and accessible.

Marxism 101

Pat Cross cartoon

At PJ Media, Robert Spencer published an excellent comparison in historical terms of Biden’s ideology and that of the former Soviet Union.  Mr Spencer begins:

In Marxist theory, the final stage of socialism is true communism, when everyone shares of his or her resources equally, the state withers away, and true justice finally dawns upon the earth. We never have seen that stage and never will, because Marxism is rancid pseudo-religious hogwash that runs directly contrary to human nature. The real final stage of socialism is what we saw in the last ten years of the Soviet Union: an entrenched, all-encompassing, corrupt and inefficient state bureaucracy nominally presided over by a succession of senescent, barely-there incompetents. With his disgraceful descent into open authoritarianism Thursday evening, Old Joe Biden and the Democrats signaled their intention to skip right to that final stage: they’ve already got the doddering figurehead and the ravenous bureaucracy firmly in place.

. . .

And now that Joe Biden is out in the open about criminalizing his opposition and brooking no dissent, we can skip here in the United States right to the final stage of socialism. We have the entrenched deep-state bureaucracy, and we have the dementia-ridden septuagenarian puppet in charge, so we’re all set. . . .
