Did you watch Episode #1 of the “The Made-for-TV J6 Show Trial”?

A.F. Branco cartoon via TownHall

No, I did not watch the prime time telecast of the first January 6 Insurrection “hearing.”  Neither did Legal Insurrection’s William A. Jacobson.  Here’s part of his rationale:

Inflation Soars to 41-Year High, While Democrats and Mainstream Media Focus On J6 Primetime Show Trial

I stayed true to my promise, "I’m Not Watching The Made-for-TV J6 Show Trial Narrated By Hoaxers, Liars, and Leakers," which as I wrote is just a political distraction from the intentional gutting of the country:

The southern border is effectively open, we have lost our sovereignty as a nation. Food prices and gas and other measures of inflation are out of control.

Sure enough, this morning brought an inflation report that shows the damage from Bidenomics. CNBC reports:

    • The consumer price index rose 8.6% in May from a year ago, the highest increase since December 1981. Core inflation excluding food and energy rose 6%. Both were higher than expected.
    • Surging food, gas and energy prices all contributed to the gain, with fuel oil up 106.7% over the past year.
    • Shelter costs, which comprise about one-third of the CPI, rose at the fastest 12-month pace in 31 years.
    • The rise in inflation meant workers lost more ground in May, with real wages declining 0.6% from April and 3% on a 12-month basis.

. . .

There is no silver lining . . .

Ugh.  Professor Jacobson’s column is here.  On the brighter side, the ratings weren't all that great.  The Washington Free Beacon reports here; see also here.

Tributes to Rush Limbaugh

William A. Jacobson at Legal Insurrection has the announcement:

Rush Limbaugh has passed away

Irreplaceable

Just announced by his wife on his show. I suspected something was up when he repeatedly cancelled out of shows recently.

It’s an understatement to say that we have lost a giant. He was so much more. He was a cheerleader and clairvoyant. In the face of mainstream media lies and collusion, he was a voice of fresh air that kept our spirits up. He was the target of cancel culture before we even knew the term.

Full article with photos here.  Sundance has more wonderful photos and tributes here,

UPDATE:  Mark Steyn has a wonderful tribute here.

The true cost of the Wuhan flu scam

A reader (signing on as Nordic Prince) posted the comment below at Legal Insurrection’s William Jacobson’s posting about Prof. Mike Adams untimely death:

nordic_prince | July 27, 2020 at 6:36 pm

THIS is the true cost of the Wuhan flu scam… broken, devastated lives in the wake of the shutdown nonsense and subsequent economic destruction.

Then we have all these ninnies running around parroting claptrap like “we’re all in this together,” “if it saves just one life,” “you can rebuild an economy but you can’t rebuild a life.” Yeah, tell that to the guy who lost his job, lost his business, lost his life savings, and now has nothing to leave for his kids except ever mounting piles of debt. Ever try to get a new career or even a new job when you’re middle aged, let alone closer to what should be retirement? You’re not only competing against all the young bucks who look down at you because they think you’re a dinosaur, you’re also competing with all the other middle-aged guys who got pink slipped as well. Is it any wonder that suicide and substance abuse are on the rise?

These people who have brought this about are pure evil. They hate not only Trump, but they hate us as well. They don’t give a damn about “the little guy,” and instead treat us worse than the dog**** you’d scrape off your shoe. They fiddle while America burns, content to gorge themselves on premium ice cream from a well-stocked commercial grade freezer while “the little guy” goes to food banks to try and get by.

Prof. Mike Adams was one of the good guys.  A tragic end.  In case you didn’t follow this one, Mark Steyn’s column sums it up.  And Steyn would know about the silent majority.

Dreamers Amnesty

Old news: Speaker Paul Ryan is pro-Amnesty. Yesterday, he had this to say:

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Wednesday that it was “not in our nation’s interest” to expel the roughly 800,000 young people protected from deportation by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

William A. Jacobson has more on DACA / Dreamer amnesty at Legal Insurrection:

Trump is on the verge of turning a temporary Obama policy deferring enforcement against people here illegally into a full-blown amnesty, which may even go beyond people brought here as children.

Amnesty is the issue on which to oppose Trump, particularly if you support Trump generally. It will kill his presidency, something Schumer and Pelosi correctly diagnosed. Democrats want amnesty for all illegal immigrants and open borders, they’ll take 800,000 as the way to open the door. And they’ll use even the slightest sellout to seek to separate Trump from the people who elected him so as to defeat him on other issues.

Amnesty is the gateway drug to a failed Trump presidency.

NeverTrump Republican are particularly ecstatic on social media today. They want nothing more than for Trump to fail so they can proclaim “I told you so.” They thrive on being out of power. Schumer and Pelosi are NeverTrump Republicans’ best friends right now.

When Trump was elected, my reaction was that there was great opportunity, and I’d support him when his policies were good, and oppose bad policies. Amnesty is a bad policy. It goes to something more than the rule of law, it goes to whether we have a country.

Particularly if you support Trump and want his positive policies to succeed, you need to oppose an amnesty sellout.

NumbersUSA has posted several Action Alerts over the past few days. One recommended action is to let Speaker Paul Ryan know where you stand on DACA (Dreamers) amnesty:

We're hearing from a number of NumbersUSA activists that Speaker Ryan's voicemail is full. You can also contact his office by filling out the contact form on his website:

An accessible background essay on the case against Dreamer amnesty is on the American Thinker blog here
