Descent into a Clown World

At Freedom First Network, J B Shurk explores America’s “Descent into a Clown World.” Here’s an extract:

Just as the beer companies, fake conservative news networks, and so many iconic American companies before them, the sports leagues have turned their backs on generations of loyal fans in a display of repugnant pusillanimity.  I wonder whether the Judases will one day regret it.  I know that the ESG- and DIE-pushing communists are castrating corporate holdouts that resist the Woke Borg, but by bending to the Borg’s will, these companies have destroyed any goodwill with lifelong allies.  When the Marxists come for another pound of flesh from their corporate vassals — and another after that — those in charge will eventually be forced to fight back or surrender.  By that time, though, nobody will be willing to come to their defense.

This has always been the shortsighted corporate gamble of the Woke Wars — there’s never been a communist revolution that did not devour itself.  By yielding to those who have always hated them and betraying those who have long defended them, companies choosing to comply with woke orthodoxy are now entirely dependent on remaining in the Marxists’ good graces.  Yet grace is not something Marxists possess in any discernible quantity.

It is not that politically conservative and religious Americans have blindly defended corporate interests in the past, but rather that liberty-loving, rights-protecting people tend to mind their own business.  Their first reaction to a company’s success is not envy.  They do not immediately turn their sights on how best to confiscate another’s good fortune.

People who work hard for what they own do not worry about what somebody else owns.  They simply seek to be left alone.  . . .

One problem is that while communists are organized, passionate, and good at messaging, conservatives “simply seek to be left alone” – it’s just not an effective marketing message.

Never Trust The Government

This blog frequently links to columns by J D Rucker, proprietor of the America First Report family of websites;  I am impressed with the way in which he tries to think through issues.  Today, he has a warning for all of us, and here’s the intro and bullet-point summary:

8 Reasons to NEVER Trust Anything This Government Says

Up until very recently, I didn’t have trust issues with government. I thought there were good guys and bad guys but I thought the institution of government itself was only evil when we put evil people in place. I no longer feel this way. If we’ve learned anything over the last couple of years, it’s that the “good guys” are extraordinarily rare in government at all levels and in all countries, and even they are often too weak or corrupted to be able to do much good.

On today’s episode of The JD Rucker Show, which will air at 8am Pacific, I discussed eight reasons pulled from headlines that we should never trust anything this government tells us. In fact, we should go forward assuming that all government is fully corrupted. That’s unfortunate because I am not an anarchist. I believe in the need for limited government, so if we can’t trust them then we’re forced to head toward the purest forms of government of and by the people. That’s not how the Constitution was written as a whole, so we’re in a big pickle.

I discussed these eight topics that should convince viewers that government is not to be trusted:

  • Pretty much everything we’re being told about the Ukraine war is a lie. .
  • The Arizona election (and many others) produced results that are mathematically impossible.
  • The push for electric vehicles is actually a push to eliminate ALL private vehicle ownership by “normal” people.
  • The world economy is being herded toward collapse.
  • Most in government are attacking the Constitution instead of defending it.
  • Nobody in government, not even the “good guys,” are going after Pfizer following the Project Veritas bombshell.
  • Governments across the world are pushing for food shortages so they have total control over supply and therefore the people.
  • Child rapes are increasing and nobody in government is lifting a finger to stop them.

Climate change prison

Here’s Andrea Widburg on the most recent climate change insanity:

. . . in accordance with UN and WEF climate recommendations, the city of Oxford (home to the famed university) approved plans mandating that citizens may not drive more than 15 minutes distance from their homes without permission. It’s called the “15 Minute City” and is intended to reduce auto emissions. Mostly, though, it will reduce liberty, which is what climate change madness has always been about.

. . .

Making choices based on lifestyle preferences is a perfectly sound, market-based way to go through life.

But the marketplace is not what globalists want. They want control. Certainly, that’s the case in and around Oxford, England. Word is trickling into America that both the leftist Oxfordshire County Council and the Oxford City Council have plans. Big plans.

. . .

And the conclusion:

. . . Socialism is totalitarianism, which exists under many names (theocracy, military junta, fascism, communism) but, no matter the name, the goal is always the same: Completely control a population for the benefit of a small, well-defined group of elites. In Oxford, England, with its new plan to trap people near their homes and spy on them wherever they go, we’re seeing the latest phase in the socialist crackdown that Rush [Limbaugh] identified 30 years ago.

Coming soon to a neighborhood near you.  Read Ms. Widburg’s column at American Thinker here.

Going cashless: weaponizing the banks

Digital dollars? Sounds innocuous enough, but it’s not.  In a recent column at Based Underground, Claudio Grass points out the dangers in the imminent move to digital currency. Here’s a sample:

As Reuters reported on the 15th of November, “Global banking giants are starting a 12-week digital dollar pilot with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Citigroup Inc , HSBC Holdings Pl, Mastercard Inc and Wells Fargo & Co are among the financial companies participating in the experiment alongside the New York Fed’s innovation center, they said in a statement. The project, which is called the regulated liability network, will be conducted in a test environment and use simulated data, the New York Fed said. The pilot will test how banks using digital dollar tokens in a common database can help speed up payments.”

. . .

[T]he stakes are too high for people to ignore this development. Whoever controls the money, controls everything and the rise of CBDCs [Central Bank Digital Currency] threatens to make that control absolute, closing whatever little “loopholes” of freedom may still exist today.

To most citizens, savers and taxpayers, the transition to a digital dollar might seem harmless, or even beneficial, given that most of the population today associates digitalization with convenience and speed. Indeed, if one doesn’t understand the ins and outs of monetary history, of fiat money and of digital currencies, this concept appears totally innocuous. But even for many who do understand these things, it might seem like such a step would really make no difference. Junk money is junk money after all, be it physical or digital, it’s still backed by nothing, right?

Well, that is right indeed, but there’s a lot more to it. While the currency itself will continue to be worthless, its digital form will come with a bunch of perks and advantages for central planners. As Eswar Prasad, professor of trade policy and economics at Cornell University, puts it:

One should recognize that the CBDC creates new opportunity for monetary policy. If we all had CBDC accounts instead of cash, in principle it might be possible to implement negative interest rates simply by shrinking balances in CBDC accounts. It will become a lot easier to undertake helicopter drops of money. If everybody had a CBDC account, one could easily increase the balance in those accounts.

What this essentially means is that any choice that remains and any degree of financial sovereignty that is left in the present system could be easily wiped out by CBDCs. And its not only financial freedom that’s at stake: these centralized digital currencies can be used by governments to monitor, to control and even to directly punish dissenters, by blocking transactions, freezing their accounts or seizing they assets. Some might find that farfetched, but those are probably the same people who thought that China’s “Social Credit System” was implausible too, right up to the moment it was actually implemented.

Central Bank Digital Currency: bad idea

At Big League Politics (Oct 26), Jose Nino reported:

During an interview on CoinDesk TV, Connecticut Congressman Jim Himes said that the United States government should create a central bank digital currency (CBDC). He believes the US must do so in order to not be “left behind.”

Countries such as Australia, China, Japan, and Russia have rolled out pilot projects to test run CBDCs.

Himes stated that the US should get the ball rolling on developing a CBDC so that “we’ve got the option to move forward” when it comes to competing wit’s other great powers using similar currencies.

. . . [BUT, as Mr Nino comments]

CBDCs are just another way globalists want to take control of people’s economic livelihood. While technology can enhance people’s lives, it can also be used as a way to exert control over them.

. . .

Instead there should be the promotion of a separation of central banking and state through legislation that allows for competing currencies to operate freely in the marketplace.

The solution to these economic issues ultimately lies with mechanisms that promote more economic freedom as opposed to economic control.

Read the full report here. Another wrecking ball if this plan succeeds.

A postscript from Dr Robert Malone

The other day, this blog linked to encouraging words from the good Doctor Robert Malone.  His subsequent column yesterday is about one of his horses, but his closing is essentially a postscript to the remarks we linked to:

. . . After all is said and done, I wish to get one little idea into the minds of our growing army.

That is, don’t give the other side ammo to use against us. Don’t answer the pollsters knock. Ignore the online survey. Don’t answer that cell phone.

The Epoch Times had an article today on how it has been near impossible to conduct a poll because republicans, and I think that includes right-leaning independents, conservatives and constitutionalists as well as MAGA republications are no longer responding to polls.

“This led to ‘hidden voters’ that ‘most’ polling under counted, therefore Trump support in key battleground states exceeded expectations. Now [the] Biden administration has essentially classified ‘MAGA Republicans’ as a threat to democracy marshaling federal law enforcement to focus on them,” the pollster wrote. “This move has created a new type of voter that will be even harder to poll or even estimate.”

Keep strong my friends- let’s remain in our own virtual Galt’s Gulch. Main-stream media no longer has legitimacy; let’s help the rest of America understand this by ruining their predictions for the midterm elections.

That said, we all need to support whatever freedoms we have left by voting in 2022.

Be free. And, as my friend JP Sears says, stay awake my friends.

Dr Malone’s column is here.  Even if you are not interested in horses and training horses, it’s worth the read.

“Never Again” is Now

Vera Sharav: “Unless All of Us Resist, Never Again is Now
Full Speech – Nuremberg, August 20, 2022

This speech in Nuremberg has gone viral, and here is part of it:

I came to Nuremberg to provide historical context to the current global threat confronting our civilization. These past 2½ years have been especially stressful— as painful memories were rekindled.

In 1941, I was 3½ when my family was forced from our home in Romania & deported to Ukraine.

We were herded into a concentration camp – essentially left to starve. Death was ever-present. My father died of typhus when I was five.

In 1944, as the Final Solution was being aggressively implemented, Romania retreated from its alliance with Nazi Germany. The government permitted several hundred Jewish orphans under the age of 12 to return to Romania. I was not an orphan; my mother lied to save my life.

I boarded a cattle car train – the same train that continued to transport Jews to the death camps – even as Germany was losing the war.

Four years elapsed before I was reunited with my mother.

. . .

If we are to avert another Holocaust, we must identify ominous current parallels before they poison the fabric of society.

Since the Nazi era, the study of history & most of the humanities—including philosophy, religion, and ethics — have been overshadowed by an emphasis on utilitarian science & technology.

As a result, few people recognize foreboding similarities between current policies & those under the Nazi regime.

By declaring a state of emergency—in 1933 & in 2020, constitutionally protected personal freedom, legal rights, and civil rights were swept aside. Repressive, discriminatory decrees followed.

. . .

The media is silent – as it was then.

The media broadcasts a single, government-dictated narrative – just as it had under the Nazis. Strict censorship silences opposing views.

In Nazi Germany few individuals objected; those who did were imprisoned in concentration camps.

Today, doctors & scientists who challenge the approved narrative are maligned; their reputations trashed. They risk losing their license to practice as well as having their homes & workplace raided by SWAT teams. . . .

New World Order or Freedom?

In his America First column, J B Shurk gives us reasons for optimism.  Here’s an extract:

Has the Great Reset Reminded Us
Why Freedom’s Worth the Fight?

. . .

Only when the U.S. government accused half the American population of being “domestic terrorists” for their political beliefs did many finally understand how dangerous the national security surveillance state had become.  Only when it became clear that Big Tech and Big Government were actively working together to censor Americans’ free speech and punish certain points of view did many finally grasp how serious the threats to liberty now are.  Like some weary beast waking up from a deep slumber, the American people have begun stretching, looking around, and rejecting a lot of what they see.  A growing contingent even realizes that the freedoms they hold most dear have been under attack for quite some time.

Now, I wish that none of this discomfort were necessary in the struggle for human liberty.  I wish most people would permit history to be such a stinging reminder of how difficult it is to achieve and maintain freedom that they would never carelessly let it slip from their grasp.  I wish that humans were impervious to smooth-talking politicians who promise gifts in exchange for servitude.  I wish that Memorial Day, Veterans’ Day, and Independence Day were sufficient to remind those who have benefited from the comforts of freedom without risking anything for its blessings not to throw away carelessly what they have yet to defend.  Alas, it does seem as if human nature demands a little self-inflicted misery from time to time so that those who have not suffered can learn the costs of ensuring that liberty lasts.

The battles taking shape today, after all, involve nothing less than what it means to be human.  On one side sit the oligarchs, communists, and New World Order globalist types who think of human beings as nothing more than cogs or inputs to be used, manipulated, and discarded.  On the other side are those of us who understand life and liberty as precious, sacred gifts that deserve enduring respect.  The Great Resetters and Build Back Better enthusiasts see people as digital ones and zeroes that can be made to obey society’s programming codes.  Friends of freedom, on the other hand, understand both free will and moral intuition as the hallmarks of human existence.  Communism and its global government derivatives seek to deny individual choice.  Liberty-lovers know that without individual choice, there can be no real life. . . .

Read the rest here.  I just hope Mr Shurk is correct -- that there are now enough Americans who see what's happening in Biden's Build Back Better administration.

Cars, Cash, & Communication

JB Shurk at NOQ analyzes how communists are forcing the New World Order:

The Three Cs Preventing Total State Control

If you were a time-traveling supervillain intent on world domination, how might you change the past in order to seize total control of the present?  I’d get rid of the personal automobile, unsupervised cash transactions, and uncontrolled mass communication.  If you take away freedom of movement, freedom of commerce, and freedom of speech, then you can keep people isolated, dependent on government welfare, and ignorant of any ideas that might threaten the power of the State.  Cars, cash, and communication are tools for promoting and protecting freedom, so if your goal is total State control over the individual, the three big Cs must go.

Is it a coincidence, then, that Western governments today seem committed to following that very playbook?  They can’t go back in time and un-invent the automobile, but they can make cars so prohibitively expensive through endless regulation that only the wealthiest among us eventually own them.  They can’t surveil every market transaction, but they can make it increasingly difficult to exchange goods or services without using traceable electronic platforms.

They can’t completely shut down email, social media, or the Internet without shutting down power grids, but they can partner with ideologically-aligned tech monopolists to censor information and viewpoints, limit anonymity, and track users.  Who needs time travel when it is possible to transform freedom-enhancing technologies into systems of State control?

I know we’re all supposed to believe that carbon dioxide plant food is evil, and the only way to “save the planet” is to ban everyone (except the “elites”) from using energy, but it sure is convenient that a century after the automobile revolutionized the world, the “ruling class” wants to de-revolutionize mass mobility.  In the late nineteenth century, most people lived and died in the towns where they were born.  With highway systems and the internal combustion engine, personal freedom jumped by leaps and bounds.

And Mr. Shurk concludes:

Can you remember a time when disagreement was accepted as a vital part of a healthy and free society?  Can you remember a time when speech was not policed and people were not fired for their personal beliefs?  Can you remember a time when self-sufficiency was a virtue and government dependence was something to avoid?  Can you remember a time when freedom was not something “handed out” for good behavior?  If you can, then you know what’s already been lost.  And unless Americans demand control over their own futures once again, you know how much more there is still left to lose.

Andrea Widburg: Russia, Ukraine, & Nazis

At American Thinker, Andrea Widburg brings some historical clarity to the word “Nazi” as it is being bandied about in the reporting on Russia and Ukraine:

The word “Nazi” is suddenly everywhere. This isn’t the modern habit of calling everyone we don’t like a “Nazi.” Instead, because of events in Ukraine, the word is showing up in the news, where it has real-world ramifications. . . .

. . . Communism and fascism are the two bastard children of the socialist ideology. Communism calls for the destruction of private property, with the government owning and controlling the means of production, ostensibly for the people’s benefit. Fascism allows private property to exist, provided that the property owners understand that they have no rights separate from the state. Both are totalitarian systems that call themselves “democracies” because people are required to vote for pre-approved chosen candidates. These governments are inevitably repressive.

Most of the world’s governments today are fascist. All power rests in the government, which allows private property to exist but subordinates that property to government control. In China, the control is militaristic and obvious. In Europe, through the EU, it’s bureaucratic and someone more subtle. The current American system—a dominant political party disdainful of the Constitution working hand-in-glove with massive corporate, technocratic interests—is increasingly fascist.

Not all fascists, though, are Nazis. The National Socialist Party in Germany added a few twists to baseline fascist totalitarianism: A quest for world domination and racial obsessions. These two factors led Nazis to believe it was their right to enslave all inferior races except for the Jews, whom they intended to exterminate entirely.

. . .

In the fight for control in Ukraine, both governments are European-style right wing (i.e., totalitarian) governments and both are nationalists. Putin is showing an unnerving yen for regional domination. However, neither the governments nor their troops are Nazis, although each has the potential to be.

National Vaccine Pass Rolled Out

A guest post by Hailey Sanibel of Blue State Conservative has been published at 100percentfedup.com:

“A National Vaccine Pass Has Quietly Rolled Out”
 Including In Several Red States

Despite predictable rollbacks to federal, state, and local mandates in the wake of trucker convoys and deflating poll numbers for Democrats, there has nevertheless been a quiet effort to institute questionable technology with devastating future consequences.

The obvious and concerning question ought to be: If Covid is going away (and it is, for all intents and purposes), then why are we just now introducing and implementing QR-code technology that can house one’s vaccination status? The article eerily answers that question in a way that should alert everyone’s Spidey senses.

The propaganda from Forbes ran with the headline “A National Vaccine Pass Has Quietly Rolled Out – And Red States Are Getting On Board” . . .

. . .

Although the article is big on positives, not mentioned anywhere are the drawbacks. I’ll just name one: Loss of freedom. Does anyone need more proof that this tool could be weaponized so fast against what is deemed as noncompliance and nonconformists? As everything becomes digitized (always for our convenience, we are told), what would it take to have to scan in to dine out? To get groceries? To go to the bank? To apply for a job? To deposit a mobile check? To enter an emergency room? To file taxes or to qualify for your tax refund?

I have a different idea: No medical records of any kind need to be shown. Ever. Let’s start there.

Full article at 100percentfedup is here.  How many Americans are pushing back?  Most of us can push back – unless we need to be seen at the hospital. Then what?

Fighting fascism

J.B. Shurk at American Thinker offers a glimmer of hope:

Surely the victors over communism, fascism, and Nazism cannot then fall victim to the madness of those same philosophies collapsing their systems from within.  This "Us/Them" self-delusion has kept the citizenry from recognizing tyranny inside its gates.

. . .

The growing tyranny in the West has not happened overnight.  It did not suddenly arrive at our doorsteps with the Chinese Flu.  It has been a nightmare decades in the making.  The difference today is that previously slumbering citizens once sublimely content in the normal humdrum of their lives are waking up to realize that the enemies from our past have returned with a vengeance.  Free speech is treated as dangerous.  Western governments, corporations, and social media platforms engage in rampant censorship.  Race and sexual identity are used as the defining attributes of a person to the exclusion of talent, character, and achievement.  Teachers' unions openly demand the right to indoctrinate children according to the interests of the State.  Parents are threatened for believing that their children belong to them.  The criminal justice system is used as a place to punish political opponents and to protect political friends.  Religious expression is outlawed.  Leftists' "secularized religion" is imposed.  Freedom is disparaged as "right-wing."  Coercion has replaced consent.  Victimhood has replaced virtue.  Conformity has replaced individuality.  "Correct" thinking has replaced freethinking.  "Social justice" has replaced real justice.  And the protection of government has become more important than the protection of human rights.

For the newly awakened, there is a tendency to see all this carnage for the first time with fresh eyes and become overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the rot.  The corruption, criminality, and chaos have infiltrated everything once held dear, and the future seems hopelessly lost.  That hopelessness, however, is not based in reality but rather the "Us/Them" self-delusion that tyranny could not happen here.  It's not easy to accept that the great sacrifices of the past made in the struggle for human freedom have once again been squandered by a new generation of despots.  It is a necessary first step, though, before the righteous can throw themselves into the fight and get back to work.  And once people come to terms with the fact that tyranny not only could happen here but that it is happening here, then they will realize that the struggle has only really begun in earnest.

. . .

Now consider all of the slogans we daily encounter from government and corporate mouthpieces alike: Black Lives Matter!; Build Back Better!; Trans Rights Are Human Rights!; The Science Is Settled!; Save the Earth!; Stop Global Warming!; The War on Women Is Real!; We're All in This Together!; Abortion Is Health Care!; My Body, My Choice!  It doesn't matter how vapid, factually incorrect, or contradictory the political slogan.  What matters is that all of us repeat them obediently to prove our allegiance to and faith in the system.  And therein lies the key to our salvation.

Lots more here.

Our Founding Fathers Would All Be Driving Trucks Today

JB Shurk at American Thinker takes a longer look at COVID tyranny and the trucker’s Freedom Convoy.  His article, “Our Founding Fathers Would All Be Driving Trucks Today,” will put a smile on your face.  He begins:

For two years, Western governments have embraced COVID-1984 totalitarianism, and now a group of minutemen truckers is having its say.  It is a recurring theme throughout history that the fight for freedom doesn't really begin until the light of its flame is nearly extinguished.  Then something almost magical happens: the human need for liberty ignites and starts spreading out of control.  Everywhere around us today, Big Tech and Big Government are building monuments to a future of technocratic authoritarianism they envision as inevitable, yet whispers calling for freedom are turning into shouts.

Is freedom on the march?  Freedom is always on the march when it looks almost licked.  What started as gross government overreach may well end up as an army of truckers bulldozing over a police state that once seemed certain.

Americans Salute Canadian 'Freedom Convoy' truckers

T. LaDuke at Red State salutes the Canadian truckers:

. . .

Truckers are the lifeblood of any country and the federal government of Canada had zero issues with “essential” border crossings in all of 2020 and 2021 with no vaccine mandate. The mandates are not based on anything scientific but are just the will of some overpaid employees working for a faceless bureaucracy who believe their authority is supreme. These overbearing mandates have spread to businesses still being closed and set to reopen at an arbitrary date set by Ottawa and extend to school kids wearing masks in gym class.

This is not about the safety and well-being of citizens but willy nilly policy crafted by bored bureaucrats with the force and the full weight and enforcement power of the Canadian Federal Government. They can and have been making average Canadians’ lives miserable based on a hunch and the result was Saturday, January 29th in Ottawa.

Canada has had enough.

The quote above [the one about freedom not being free] from then-Governor Ronald Reagan is something that many of us Americans will bandy about at times to try and remind ourselves that the freedom the generation before handed off to us is something truly worth preserving. We read the words but don’t always grasp the true meaning because we have become a bit fat and lazy while feasting on the freedom buffet we were born into but might not have really earned.

Yesterday, Canada showed us how to start earning it and, my Lord, it was a marvel to watch. As an American, this is not the position I thought I would ever find myself in, praising another country on how to do the “freedom thing.” Yet here I am, and I am incredibly grateful to our Canadian cousins for the lesson brought to us from them.

If you value your freedom and believe that it is just one generation away from being taken away from you, as Reagan so eloquently warned, then today you stand with Canada and her patriots who love their country but do not support its government’s policies.

Today, that makes us all Canadians.

Excellent [but unverified] update on the Canadian truckers’ convoy to Ottawa

We’ve all been reading about the Canadian truckers’ convoy to Ottawa to protest mandates and other encroachments on our freedoms.  Sundance has blogged here; Reuters reports here.

But here is the best update yet from Ontario in the comments section of Blazing Cat Fur:

Is your vaccine passport in order? Here's your script

“This week, the City of San Francisco will begin requiring proof of vaccination for residents to enter indoor facilities such as restaurants and events. In New York, the state’s “Excelsior” pass and Mayor Bill de Blasio’s sweeping vaccine mandates have come under fire for not providing exceptions and making it harder for beleaguered business owners to get back on their feet following the pandemic shutdowns.”

Frieda Powers at BizPacReview reports on a script prepared by Dr. Anthony Hinton -- for you -- should you be asked for your vax papers in order to be served at your local restaurant:

With more parts of the country trampling on individual privacy and issuing requirements for vaccine passports, one medical professional is pushing back with a practical guide on Twitter.

Dr. Anthony Hinton, whose Twitter bio describes him as a “Consultant Surgeon with 30 years experience in the NHS,” posted a script from a scenario of a restaurant-goer being asked to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination in order to be served.

“Next time you are asked for your COVID passport here’s what to do,” the tweet was captioned, in obvious response to the mandates in various cities and states that now require vaccine verification for entry and service.

The tweet suggests Americans being asked to show their papers should push back and highlight the hypocrisy of COVID mandates while other communicable diseases are ignored. After the hypothetical restaurant patron named “Bill” is asked by the waitress “do you and your guest have your Vaccination Cards?” he responds: “Can you tell us who our server will be?”

“Um, looks like Brad will be your server tonight,” the waitress replies.

“Great. Can you show us Brad’s Vaccination Card?” Bill then asks. “And also, can you provide me with proof that Brad is not a carrier of HIV, Hepatitis A or B, or any other communicable diseases. Same for you and the kitchen staff.”

But why stop there? The script goes on, pointing out that the medical histories of all of the restaurant’s employees should be requested.

“Also, we would prefer not to be served by someone who is on or uses recreational drugs…” the customer continues, “so if you could provide us with Brad’s most recent tox screen, that would be great. As a matter of fact, I’m going to need to see all of your employees’ medical history.”

At this point in the scenario, the server announces she will get the manager.

“Make sure they have their Vax Card and medical records please,” the customer responds.

. . .

The rest of the report is here.

This Is 1938: First, They Came for the Unvaccinated

Wayne Allyn Root at FrontPage compares America in 2021 to Germany in 1938 (“This Is 1938: First, They Came for the Unvaccinated”).  Alarm bells?  He does not exaggerate.  Here are some extracts:

It's time for alarm bells. It's time for me to play the part of Paul Revere: "The communist tyrants and dictators are coming! The communist tyrants and dictators are coming!" They're coming first for unvaccinated Americans.

This is 1938. . . . It was the pre-Holocaust. It was the time before the nightmare, when the foundation was being laid to destroy the freedom, free speech, businesses and lives of millions of Jews.

Everything happening today to the American people ... to the U.S. Constitution ... to freedom ... and particularly to unvaccinated Americans reminds me of 1938. This is only the beginning. It gets much worse from here.

First, "the papers." Vaccine mandates and vaccine passports are just like 1938, when the Gestapo demanded papers from every German.

. . .

Now Democrats want American citizens, not illegal aliens, not criminals, but patriots born in this country, to produce papers 24/7. We'll need papers to enter restaurants, bars, nightclubs, concerts, casinos, conventions and hotels and to board a train, plane or bus. We'll need papers to enter a supermarket, or we'll starve to death. All for the crime of being unvaccinated against ... wait for it ...

The flu.

All for the crime of being unwilling to inject an untested, rushed to production, experimental, "for emergency use only" shot into our bodies.

. . .

By the way, this isn't about vaccines. If you want the vaccine, take it. I'd never stop you. I'd never limit your freedom, your choice. This is about vaccine mandates — forcibly injecting Americans who don't want it. That's 1938.

But there's much more in common with 1938. Mask mandates. If you're scared, wear them. I'm not scared. I don't want to wear them. Mandates are about forcing individuals to lose their freedom, choice, individuality and human rights. That's 1938.

Lockdowns are a match with the Warsaw Ghetto. Jews were locked down. Jews couldn't work. Jews couldn't travel. Jewish businesses were labeled "nonessential."

If government can force us to close our businesses, to kill our jobs, to decide who is nonessential, then this is 1938.

. . .

Media and social media as the public-relations wing of the government. That's called propaganda. Remind you of 1938? Back then, the Jews' books were burned. Today, it's those of conservatives, patriots and specifically the unvaccinated. We are silenced. Our facts are labeled "misleading." Only the facts that agree with big government's agenda count. That's 1938.

. . .

Unless we stop it now. Unless we take a stand now. Unless we draw a line in the sand now.

First, they came for the unvaccinated. Trust me: Next, they're coming for you.

The Biden Regime Has Made Us All Enemies of the State

J.B. Shurk at American Thinker (cross-posted at NOQ Report) starts off:

How can you tell we're slipping under the yoke of totalitarianism?  The New York Times has declared that the word "freedom" is merely an "anti-government slogan," and the Biden regime refuses to condemn Cuba's communist police state, even as it "disappears" Cuban dissidents during live video feeds.  I don't know how much clearer the State and its "news" propagandists can be.  If "freedom" is a dirty little word as meaningless as "hope and change," then everything upon which the United States of America has been built is dead, and if the Obama-Biden cabal running the White House find common cause with the same Castro-Guevara mass murderers who have tortured and summarily executed innocent Cubans in the name of "revolution" for sixty years, then the federal government cannot be trusted.

This isn't a surprise to anyone paying attention.  Two months ago, the U.S. State Department draped embassies around the world with Black Lives Matter flags, and today BLM has pledged its allegiance to the communist Cuban regime while blaming the U.S. for Cuba's island prison of poverty, violence, and repression.  There has never been any doubt that BLM is a Marxist organization intent on destroying American freedoms, yet Democrats, corporate boards, and even Mitt Romney have sung its praises for years.  Hanging those insidious BLM flags on American consulates overseas was tantamount to hanging the hammer and sickle over the stars and stripes.  Their meaning was self-evident: the U.S. is under new Marxist management.  Still, too many corporate sellouts and political backstabbers honored BLM as some sort of paragon for civil rights, even as its members routinely engage in arson, larceny, intimidation, and murder.

Now that BLM has made its allegiance to America's communist enemies abundantly clear, will any of those corporate or political invertebrates walk back their support for BLM's pro-Castro movement?  Surely not.  They've chosen a side; they're totalitarian appeasers now, giving aid and comfort to those who wish America harm.  Is that too harsh?  Is it unfair to accuse American companies and politicians of casting their lot with the intellectual heirs of Stalin and Mao?  A man should be judged by his deeds, not his words, but as far as I can see, none of these pro-BLM sycophants has done or said anything while the Biden administration embraces Cuba's police state tactics here at home.  Their inaction speaks volumes.

Socialism's seductive appeal

Roger Kimball has good history and philosophical lessons for us at American Greatness. He concludes:

For centuries, prudent political philosophers have understood that the lust for equality is the enemy of freedom. That species of benevolence underwrote the tragedy of Communist tyranny. The rise of political correctness has redistributed that lust over a new roster of issues: not the proletariat, but the environment, not the struggling masses, but “reproductive freedom,” gay rights, the welfare state, the Third World, diversity training, and an end to racism and xenophobia. It looks, in Marx’s famous mot, like history repeating itself as farce. It would be a rash man, however, who made no provision for a reprise of tragedy.

Such attitudes are all but ubiquitous in modern democratic societies. Although of relatively recent vintage, they have spread rapidly. The triumph of this aspect of Enlightened thinking, as [philosopher David] Stove notes, marked the moment when “the softening of human life became the great, almost the only, moral desideratum.”

The modern welfare state is one result of the triumph of abstract benevolence. Its chief effects are to institutionalize dependence on the state while also assuring the steady growth of the bureaucracy charged with managing government largess. Both help to explain why the welfare state has proved so difficult to dismantle. The governments that support the welfare state, Stove points out,

are elected by universal adult franchise; but an electorally decisive proportion of the voters—in some countries, approaching a quarter—either is employed by government or is dependent to a significant extent on some welfare programme. In these circumstances it is merely childish to expect the welfare state to be reduced, at least while there is universal suffrage. A government that did away with free education, for example, or socialised medicine, simply could not be re-elected. Indeed it would be lucky to see out its term of office.

Is there an alternative? Stove quotes Thomas Malthus’ observation, from his famous “Essay on Population,” that “we are indebted for all the noblest exertions of human genius, for everything that distinguishes the civilised from the savage state,” to “the laws of property and marriage, and to the apparently narrow principle of self-interest which prompts each individual to exert himself in bettering his condition.”

“The apparently narrow principle of self-interest,” mind you.

Contrast that robust, realistic observation with Robert Owen’s blather about replacing the “individual selfish system” with a “united social” system that, he promised, would bring forth a “new man.”

Stove observes that Malthus’ arguments for the genuinely beneficent effects of “the apparently narrow principle of self-interest” “cannot be too often repeated.” Indeed. Even so, a look around at the childish pretended enthusiasm for socialism makes me think that, for all his emphasis, Stove understated the case. Jim Carrey and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (not to mention a college student near you) would profit by having a closer acquaintance with the clear-eyed thinking of Thomas Malthus.

It’s the same lessons that gave America its first Thanksgiving;  when collective socialism failed, the settlers learned that freedom, incentive, and private property harnessed self-interest to the greater good.
