During the 2016 GOP convention in Cleveland, this blogger &
hubby were sitting at the bar in a neighborhood restaurant, and through the
door came a man wearing a cowboy hat. In
the profile, we could have sworn it was America’s Sheriff, David Clarke. As he came inside, well, it WAS David
Clarke. I stood up to intercept him on
his way to a barstool and asked if I might shake his hand. An innocent bystander offered to take a
photograph. What a privilege.
So yesterday evening, we were in another neighborhood
restaurant, and there was a gentleman at the bar having a drink. He was wearing a cowboy hat and
was a dead ringer for David Clarke. Then
I noticed an American flag and a “Blue Lives Matter” patch on his vest. So when
he glanced in our direction, I gave him a thumbs-up.
He paid his check and then headed over to our table. And indeed, it WAS America’s Sheriff. We had a most excellent conversation,
and we were able to shake his hand again.
