Looking Back at the America We Grew up in

Don Feder at FrontPageMagazine has a sad and nostalgic take on the America us oldies grew up in.  Here’s some of it:

Those of us who were part of the Baby Boom generation, now in our 60s and 70s, no longer recognize the nation in which we grew up. We are strangers in a land that gets stranger by the day.

We believed in the American dream. We worked hard, paid our taxes and obeyed the law —even laws we thought were idiotic.

. . .

Most of us don’t recognize Biden’s America. Patriotism has become passé. Our military is led by men who are social workers and politically correct hacks.

They can’t fight, but they’re great at getting soldiers to use preferred pronouns and combating imaginary racism in the ranks.

Giant corporations have replaced individual enterprise, which – in many cases – has been taxed and regulated out of existence. Government bureaucrats and corporate executives are like the pigs and men at the end of Orwell’s “Animal Farm.”

. . .

Officeholders for life treat us like mentally-challenged children. They snicker at those who pay their exorbitant salaries.

So we limp along into old age, too proud to go on the dole and too stubborn to just give up.

Besides, surrender now would be a betrayal of the America that once was.

Read the whole thing here.

Rand Paul endorses Mike Gibbons

Our household gets regular emails from Sen. Rand Paul (we are on lots of mailing lists).  Whether you like him or not, Sen. Paul has certainly been stepping up to the plate in challenging Anthony Fauci, especially on gain-of-function research on the Wuhan virus and the ties between Fauci and the Wuhan lab.  Here's Sen. Paul's message:

Only one thing is stopping Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer from implementing their radical agenda - our hold on the Senate.

They are already plotting their 2022 election plans to expand their majority...

Fortunately, my friend Mike Gibbons could foil all of their plans.

Mike Gibbons is running for Senate in an open seat in Ohio that Biden and Harris DESPERATELY need to win if they wish to keep the Senate in 2022.

I am personally endorsing Mike Gibbons because he is fighting for our shared values and he is a man of principle.
      • Putting an END to Critical Race Theory and cancel culture
      • Fighting for an America-First agenda
      • Securing our borders
      • Standing up for the Second Amendment and for the rights of the unborn

You know what I like most about Mike Gibbons? He is not a politician and has worked hard all of his life and achieved the American Dream.

Growing up, he had a paper route. Later, he operated a bandsaw on a factory floor in Ohio. He poured concrete. He sacrificed and worked hard to create a livelihood and provide for his family.

It wasn’t until age 37 he opened up his own business above a dentist’s office. Since then, Mike Gibbons has achieved success beyond his wildest dreams.

Now, he’s decided to run for Senate to fight for the Bill of Rights, an America-First agenda, and for liberty.

What’s at stake? The left is attempting to rewrite American history, silence our voices, and control our schools.

The reality is I need back up in the U.S. Senate against Biden and his cronies to stop this madness.

Sen. Paul then makes another fund-raising pitch for Mr. Gibbons, and should you be interested in looking into Mr. Gibbons's campaign, click here.

Tea Party 2.0: Look Ahead America

Yesterday evening, our household was watching “Tipping Point” on One America News.  Kara McKinney’s guest was Matt Braynard, who was there to introduce viewers to the organization Look Ahead America (Look Ahead America). From their website:

Our Mission

There are millions of rural and blue-collar patriotic Americans who are disaffected and disenfranchised from the nation’s corridors of power. Their fears ignored, their priorities dismissed, their values ridiculed, they’ve become cynical and pessimistic about a government that so often does not hear their voices.

Our mission is to register, educate, and enfranchise these disaffected citizens and ensure that their voices are not just heard but heeded and that the American Dream becomes their dream again.

We will also organize and guide patriotic citizens in lobbying their state legislatures and local governments on America First initiatives like fighting corporate censorship and ensuring voter integrity.

You can join our effort by donating, volunteering, and spreading the word about our daunting but necessary endeavor.

My initial take:  In a sense, this is a natural successor to the 2009 Tea Party initiative, and it is a potential partner to Cleveland Tea Party.

Mr. Braynard was an articulate guest, and he informed viewers of the upcoming grassroots training session (more links to follow).  This organization seeks to influence positive conservative changes at the state and local levels, with election integrity being a major focus. One particular strategy will be to affect change in those states with conservative legislators or leadership.  (Ohio has nominally Republican leadership, so there’s a lot of work to be done.)

Please visit their website; there are quite a few videos of Mr. Braynard’s appearances describing the organization’s upcoming activities

The American Dream or the Socialist Dream

In any election season, voters on all sides of the debates begin to tune out. Too much hollering, grandstanding, and lying. Ted Noel at American Thinker has some useful ideas about cutting through the noise:
When Left and right both say they want to promote "the American Dream," it's obvious that they aren't talking about the same thing.  So let's condense it.The American Dream is the idea that "You can bust your butt to make a better life, and not have it stolen by anyone, not even the government."
The historical truth of this is self-evident.  People braved treacherous ocean crossings in barely seaworthy ships so they could scratch out an existence in a new land threatened by multitudes of unknown dangers.  This continued throughout our western expansion.  Now that we have subdued the physical threats faced by our pioneers, our uninformed progeny regard simple differences of opinion as worthy of the same response as marauding Apaches.  They march for "free everything" in the name of "socialism," while completely misunderstanding the following:
The Socialist Dream is the idea that the government should steal the work of those who busted their butts to give it to those who won't get off their own. These sound bites are short enough for anyone who works for a living to comprehend them, even in the middle of the noise of life.  But we must go a bit farther.  When the Left calls the president a "Nazi," we should remind them that "Nazi" is short for "National Socialist."  When leftists scream for socialism, they are the Nazis.  And yes, Hitler's economics were socialist, and American Democrats were cheerleaders for Hitler.  Even John F. Kennedy was a fan of Hitler prior to World War II.
Mr. Noel's column is here.
