Fauci would like to cancel Thanksgiving

 

Rick Moran at PJ Media reported that “Dr. Fauci Tells American To Bite The Bullet and Sacrifice Thanksgiving":

First, CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield warned that sharing Thanksgiving dinner indoors with a group of loved ones was very, very dangerous. Now, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Mendacious Midget™, is joining the chorus. In an interview with Norah O’Donnell on CBS News, the media darling said the following about the holiday:

That is unfortunately a risk, when you have people coming from out of town, gathering together in an indoor setting. It is unfortunate, because that’s such a sacred part of American tradition — the family gathering around Thanksgiving. But that is a risk.

Given the fluid and dynamic nature of what’s going on right now in the spread and the uptick of infections, I think people should be very careful and prudent about social gatherings, particularly when members of the family might be at a risk because of their age or their underlying condition… You may have to bite the bullet and sacrifice that social gathering, unless you’re pretty certain that the people that you’re dealing with are not infected.

Vote by mail and election fraud

Rick Moran at PJ Media has an article “Nevada's Mail-In Ballot System Wide Open to Fraud and Abuse” that provides chapter and verse for the increased opportunities for voter fraud with mail-in ballots.  Nevada has a primary next month, and “thousands of legal ballots are being sent to inactive voters — voters who haven’t voted in the last few elections, which might include voters who have moved or are dead.”

Ohio voters just lost their opportunity to vote in person on Election Day in our recent primary election. The excuse was, of course, concerns over coronavirus. Cleveland Tea Party’s Ralph King posted more bad news on social media on the November election in Ohio:

The Never Trumper Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is already laying the groundwork & planting the seeds to vote by mail in Ohio for the November election.

I've always said, since he was first elected OH SoS, if there was going to be any undermining of Donald Trump in the 2020 election it would be through LaRose & Ohio!

John Boehner speaks (for the Uniparty)

John Boehner speaks (reported by Rick Moran at PJ Media):

The worst House speaker in perhaps the last 100 years says, "There is no Republican Party." Coming from the man who did more than most to destroy it, it seems ironic that he should complain.

"The Republican Party is kind of taking a nap somewhere," Boehner added. He should know all about that since, under his leadership, the GOP was snoozing while Obama enacted a radical, liberal agenda.

But is he right?

Depends what you mean when you say "Republican Party." If you mean the party of Ronald Reagan, Boehner is right. But Trump wasn't responsible for the death of Reagan Republicanism. That honor goes to George W. Bush, whose "big government conservatism" led to political and economic disaster.

John Boehner was/is a member in good standing of the Uniparty. As Sundance pointed out earlier this year with respect to Speaker Paul Ryan:

Republicans did not want to win the majority position and face having to reveal their true UniParty agenda.

BTW, I got another fund-raising call the other day from the Republican National Committee. I decided to take the call instead of just hanging up. When the chap started in on his scripted message, I interrupted him to let him know that I was an angry conservative voter. For over seven years, the GOP has raised millions of dollars, and gained the House and Senate and White House, on their promises to repeal Obamacare. With majorities in both chambers of Congress, they have refused to repeal it. I repeated that bit, and that was the end of that phone call.

Socialism on the rise

The disconcerting headline (disconcerting to Tea Party people!) in Rick Moran’s piece in American Thinker:

"Socialism is going mainstream, and Millennials are the cause"

From the article:

A headline in The Hill captures a significant moment in American history: "Four socialist-backed candidates win Pennsylvania legislative primaries."

The Democratic Socialists of America supported all four candidates, who will almost certainly win in November, given their lack of GOP opponents.

The DSA itself thinks socialism's time has come:

The DSA hailed the legislative victories as a huge moment for the socialist movement. 

Arielle Cohen, co-chair of the Pittsburgh DSA chapter, told HuffPost that she feels a "monumental shift" after the victories, noting DSA's growing membership since President Trump's election.

"We won on popular demands that were deemed impossible.  We won on health care for all, we won on free education," she said.

"We're turning the state the right shade of red tonight," she added.

The "right shade of red" is due to a growing acceptance for socialism, especially among Millennials, and outright hostility and opposition to capitalism.

How did this happen? The short answer is that the American people are ignorant of the dangers to human liberty posed by socialism and have been propagandized by our educational system, our culture, and our media to hate capitalism.  If you are told capitalism is evil for your entire life by teachers, movies, TV, and news media, you are going to believe that capitalism is evil.

Long Live the Tea Party

I don’t usually agree with Rick Moran, who posts at PJ Media. But his piece “The Tea Party Is Dead, Long Live the Tea Party” was linked on Instapundit, and it had a few good thoughts, going back to the inception of the Tea Party groups in 2009:

But the tea party's real value to the country is that for the first time since the ratification debates over the Constitution, millions of people across the country were actually reading and discussing our founding document.

These weren't constitutional scholars sitting around some Ivy League lecture hall esoterically discussing the foundations of America. These were millions of ordinary people sitting at kitchen tables, in small church meeting rooms, on front porches and backyards probing the reasons America came into existence.

. . . What mattered was that ordinary people had taken a keen interest in preserving the spirit of the Constitution and the essence of our founding principles that are "self-evident" in that document at a time it has been under relentless attack.

. . .

This side of the tea parties was never widely reported on by the media, for very good reasons. The left hates getting into a discussion about what the Constitution says because they can't defend most of their ideas. Despite the fact that the founders wrote the Constitution so that basically anyone who could read could understand it, the left keeps insisting the Constitution says things that it doesn't.

Any clever lawyer or willing judge can twist the meaning of the Constitution so that it says anything they want it to say to accomplish any end they wish to accomplish. So the budget deal may have killed fiscal sanity in Washington and -- perhaps -- the tea party's political power to some extent. And the GOP may have co-opted most of the larger tea party groups to do the party's bidding.

What remains of the tea party is, to my mind, the best part. The desire of ordinary people to govern themselves, to take personal responsibility for their own lives, and to try to do something about the denigration and increasing irrelevance of the Constitution.

As Glenn Reynolds concluded: Don’t give up the ship.

Could the false alarm in Hawaii happen here?

NORAD provides airspace surveillance to protect all states in the lower 48, including Ohio. But like Hawaii, Ohio also has its own Emergency Management Agency.

RIck Moran at American Thinker reports:

The false alert yesterday that informed Hawaiians a missile was inbound and told for residents to seek shelter was caused by an employee of the Emergency Management Agency pushing "the wrong button" during a shift change.

. . .

It should be noted that some empty headed leftists are blaming Trump for the SNAFU, but that's just ignorant. The [Hawaii] EMA is wholly a state agency and the responsibility for issuing alerts rests completely with the state government.

Those of us in Ohio probably don’t feel as vulnerable as Hawaiians to incoming missile attacks, but Moran raised the point:

Today, I have no doubt that the other 49 states in the nation are looking at their notification systems under a microscope. But what should they look for? What happened in Hawaii?

. . .

Hawaii says the alert was sent out because of a mistake made by an employee. Currently, we have no reason to doubt that explanation. But would Hawaii - or any state - announce to the public that the system had been hacked and the entire EMA system was vulnerable to intrusion?

As in, hacked by the Russians?

Seriously, the Ohio Emergency Management Agency’s website’s most recent postings concern extreme weather alerts and information. It has a page with information about the three nuclear power plants constructed in Ohio. The only other reference to anything “nuclear” at the website is a link to the “Center for Rad/Nuc Training at the Nevada National Security Site Program,” so the agency does not appear to have incoming nuclear missiles or improvised nuclear terror attacks on its priority lists. Still, those potential events could be covered by The EMA Watch Office:

The Ohio EMA Watch Office is one of the newest branches of the agency and is a key component of the state emergency management system. This office aims to help facilitate a quicker, more informed decision-making process for the preparation for, and response to hazards and incidents impacting Ohio.
