Update: Ohio Primary on Tuesday

It is likely at this point that either Nina Turner or Shontel Brown, both Democrats, will win the primary on Aug. 3 for the US House seat formerly held by Marcia Fudge in Ohio’s 11th Congressional district.  John Sexton at Hot Air has

written a couple of times about the battle in Ohio between the socialist wing of the Democratic Party, which is supporting Nina Turner, and the more establishment wing which is supporting Shontel Brown. Today HuffPost reports that establishment money is pouring into the race now that Brown seems within striking distance:

Moderate Democratic groups, donors and even some Republicans are flooding Ohio’s 11th Congressional District with millions of dollars in a bid to elect Shontel Brown and defeat progressive favorite Nina Turner in Tuesday’s special primary election.

House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.), along with Democratic Reps. Joyce Beatty (Ohio), Gregory Meeks (N.Y.) and Bennie Thompson (Miss.), are headlining a get-out-the-vote event for Brown this weekend as well.

I was aware that Jim Clyburn, the 3rd ranking Democrat in the House, was supporting Brown, but I hadn’t been aware of why he decided to get so involved in the race. According to HuffPost, Nina Turner made a big mistake last month when she appeared on a panel with well-known rapper named Killer Mike. (Killer Mike had some interesting things to say to rioters and to CNN last summer).

Speaking on a panel with rapper “Killer” Mike Render, Turner appeared to express agreement when Render said it was “incredibly stupid” for House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) to have endorsed Biden without demanding more in exchange.

Clyburn, the highest-ranking Black member of Congress, endorsed Brown days later and was soon featured in one of her TV ads.

. . .

Bringing the heavy hitters off the bench to oppose your campaign seems, well, incredibly stupid. But this type of blunt talk about the Democratic Party is what Nina Turner is known for. In fact, there’s a new anti-Turner ad which basically argues that she’s not really a Democrat at all.

Rand Paul endorses Mike Gibbons

Our household gets regular emails from Sen. Rand Paul (we are on lots of mailing lists).  Whether you like him or not, Sen. Paul has certainly been stepping up to the plate in challenging Anthony Fauci, especially on gain-of-function research on the Wuhan virus and the ties between Fauci and the Wuhan lab.  Here's Sen. Paul's message:

Only one thing is stopping Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer from implementing their radical agenda - our hold on the Senate.

They are already plotting their 2022 election plans to expand their majority...

Fortunately, my friend Mike Gibbons could foil all of their plans.

Mike Gibbons is running for Senate in an open seat in Ohio that Biden and Harris DESPERATELY need to win if they wish to keep the Senate in 2022.

I am personally endorsing Mike Gibbons because he is fighting for our shared values and he is a man of principle.
      • Putting an END to Critical Race Theory and cancel culture
      • Fighting for an America-First agenda
      • Securing our borders
      • Standing up for the Second Amendment and for the rights of the unborn

You know what I like most about Mike Gibbons? He is not a politician and has worked hard all of his life and achieved the American Dream.

Growing up, he had a paper route. Later, he operated a bandsaw on a factory floor in Ohio. He poured concrete. He sacrificed and worked hard to create a livelihood and provide for his family.

It wasn’t until age 37 he opened up his own business above a dentist’s office. Since then, Mike Gibbons has achieved success beyond his wildest dreams.

Now, he’s decided to run for Senate to fight for the Bill of Rights, an America-First agenda, and for liberty.

What’s at stake? The left is attempting to rewrite American history, silence our voices, and control our schools.

The reality is I need back up in the U.S. Senate against Biden and his cronies to stop this madness.

Sen. Paul then makes another fund-raising pitch for Mr. Gibbons, and should you be interested in looking into Mr. Gibbons's campaign, click here.

Some Cuyahoga County voting places have changed for Tuesday’s primary

From Cleveland.com:

About 14,000 registered voters in Beachwood, Broadview Heights, Richmond Heights and Cleveland’s Wards 7 and 15 will have to vote in new locations when they cast ballots in Tuesday’s special primary election, the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections said Friday.

The primary will determine the Democratic and Republican nominees to fill the congressional seat that Democratic former U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge of Warrensville Heights vacated to head the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development,

CDC : another about-face on COVID "guidelines"

Here’s Tony Perkins at Patriot Post

CDC: Why Mask? Don’t Ask

The CDC’s latest decision “is just going to create more vaccine hesitancy. It’s going to backfire.”

On Tuesday, new CDC guidance directed vaccinated persons to wear masks indoors over most of the country, and urged everyone in K-12 schools to wear masks in the fall. The guidance reversed the rules the CDC issued earlier this year, which recognized that people vaccinated against COVID-19 do not need to wear masks because they are immune, at least to its most harmful effects.

“Why do people who have the vaccine need to now wear masks the same as people who have not had it?” That’s the question Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki. Psaki’s response was telling, “Because the public health leaders in our administration have made the determination.” That response was not much different from a parent looking upon a questioning child with, “because I said so.” But there is one big difference, Americans aren’t children, we are rational adults with a responsibility to hold the government accountable. Why won’t the Biden administration give us a straight answer?

Apparently, because they don’t have one.  . . .

Here we go all over again.

The CDC has flipped and is once again recommending that people go back to wearing masks, even if fully vaccinated, in areas where the Delta variant is “surging” (which they are defining as most of the country). As my colleague Kate Paul Dillon wrote earlier, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky claimed data showed some vaccinated people could be infected with the Delta variant and spread it to others, but didn’t show her work as to that data.

Walensky was making the round on the shows and it was like a throwback to last year in what they were trying to sell us.

According to the AP, Dr. Walensky told “CBS This Morning” something that may sound awfully familiar.

“We can halt the chain of transmission,” she said. “We can do something if we unify together, if we get people vaccinated who are not yet vaccinated, if we mask in the interim, we can halt this in just a matter of a couple of weeks.”

Oh, my, suddenly, we’re back to “15 days to slow the spread” more than a year later. We were told that 16 months ago. How did that work out when we acceded to that before?  . . .
