Tea Party Patriots (OH) issue statement on ODP Chairman Chris Redfern

From the Tea Party Patriots (OH) --

For Immediate Release

September 25, 2010

This is in response to Ohio Democrat Party Chairman Chris Redfern’s uncomplimentary description of the Tea Party movement in Ohio (Click for Video) and Governor Strickland’s recent Howard Dean-like anti-Tea Party tirade (Click for Video).

First, we would like to thank them both for acknowledging the hard work of the Tea Party movement in educating Ohio voters on the failed policies of the Strickland Administration, and of Redfern's reign as Chairman of the Ohio Democrat Party. In describing the Tea Party movement in Ohio as, “F***ers,” the ODP Chairman has publicly called what many state party chairmen, Democrat & Republican alike, have been whispering under their breath about the Tea Party movement for over a year now.

While we do not agree with ODP Chairman Redfern's locker room behavior and potty-mouthed insults, we understand his frustration with the Tea Party as he tries in a fairy tale-like manner to spin "straw," i.e., four years of failed policies, into "gold." He has nothing to spin but wet straw from a state budget deficit of $8 billion, one of the least business-friendly states in the U.S., an unemployment rate of 10.1% , and job losses reaching over 380,000. Furthermore, over 75% of Ohioans think that Strickland's top priority, fixing school funding, has likewise been a failure.

Chairman Redfern's frustration ultimately comes from a more informed electorate, thanks to the Tea Party Patriots movement in Ohio. He reinforced that fact when he responded to calls for apologies from around the state. Rather than apologize for his outburst, he did what those with nothing but a record of failures do – he became even more juvenile in his response by issuing a fund raising letter with the following:

Unlike some calling for discussions or requesting an apology from ODP Chairman Redfern for his remarks, the Tea Party Patriot groups in Ohio feel there is nothing to discuss and we will speak loudly with our actions on November 2nd.  As for requesting an apology – we figure he owes that to the residents of Ohio.

  1. Dear Tea Party Patriots (Ohio),

I would like to thank you for your eloquence in addressing the issues of the State of Ohio, and for your elevated stature in responding to the disparaging comments made by Ohio Democrat Party Chairman Chris Redfern.

I think it is worth noting that rats on a sinking ship will crawl over each other to save their own skin. Ohio Democrat Party Chairman Chris Redfern seems to be doing that to the citizens of Ohio without consideration of his party's consequences to the future of the upcoming generations of Ohioans and indeed all Americans as well.

As a mother of three (one of which resides in Ohio), I reject the notion that politicians have a right to consume the future of my children for their own gain.

It is a tough realization that one cannot spend his way out of debt, but the paper is coming and it is time to pay up. If we continue to let the current pack of rats spend without consequence, our children and their futures are lost.

Ohio Democrat Party Chairman Chris Redfern’s disparaging statements and comments are not those of a statesman...indeed they are not even those of a decent man. It is time to rid ourselves of people that are more at home in a gutter than in a clean home. How can we expect anyone that would declare themselves in such a vile manner to hold office or make judgements on our behalf.

Thank you again for your generous response to Ohio Democrat Party Chairman Chris Redfern's disparaging remarks, for choosing a higher ground in your manner of expression and for stepping forward at a time when your efforts are most needed. I hope he takes it to heart and realizes that change is coming. It may not be the change he expected 2 years ago, but it is on it's way none the less. He and his rat pack would be wise to redistribute their priorities from purchasing votes by progressive proxy to earning them through sound principles of integrity and accountability to not only themselves, but to the people of America.

Best wishes in your efforts to restore America to its prior stature.
