Pull the Plug on Obamacare Rally (Ohio)

Rally to Pull the Plug on Obamacare

PRO-FAMILY MOVEMENT & TEA PARTY UNITE
TO “PULL THE PLUG” AT BOEHNER’S OFFICE
Defund Obamacare Rally in Troy, Ohio Next Tuesday!

August 20, 2013 – For Immediate Release

With unprecedented unity, the pro-family movement, Tea Party groups, and freedom-loving Ohioans are joining together outside Speaker John Boehner’s district office (12 South Plum Street in Troy, Ohio) to stand against the funding of Obamacare with a “Pull the Plug” Rally next Tuesday, August 27, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Among those speaking are former Ohio Secretary of State Ken BlackwellJenny Beth Martin, co-founder of Tea Party Patriots, Brent Bozell, founder of ForAmerica, Doc Thompson from The Blaze, Ted Stevenot of Ohio Liberty Council,  Janet Porter of Faith2Action and many more.

“Symbolic votes against Obamacare are great, but now it’s time to pull the plug on funding the monstrosity that threatens our lives and livelihoods.” said Ken Blackwell, “Join us next Tuesday to encourage the Speaker to pull the plug on Obamacare before it’s too late!”

“If the President can delay Obamacare for Big Business, Big Government and Big Labor, Speaker Boehner can do it for the American people, and we are calling on him to do it,” stated Jenny Beth Martin of Tea Party Patriots.

“Why would we give the keys to our healthcare to the same branch of government that continues to target Tea Party and Conservative groups, denying them the right to assemble?” asked Janet (Folger) Porter, president of Faith2Action, who is organizing the event. “We must pull the plug on Obamacare before he pulls the plug on us!”

“The citizens of Ohio have spoken loudly and clearly by passing the Healthcare Amendment: Keep Obamacare out of Ohio!” added Beth Cox of the Preble County Liberty Group. “Speaker Boehner: Please defund Obamacare and save lives.”

Stop Common Core in Ohio Weekly Action Items

From Ohioans Against Common Core --

       Hey Ohio Legislators…Have you heard?extra-extra-god-news

It has been an action packed week! Common Core has become a top story, especially here in the midwest. Indiana Govenor Mike Pence signed the one year pause on Common Core implementation and Kentucky experienced first hand the ramifications of an untested, centrally planned, computer dependent assessment. How can our representatives chance the education of Ohio’s kids to an untested program? If it was really about the standards, why were they adopted before they were written?
LEVEL ONE PRIORITY – HOUSE EDUCATION  COMMITTEE CALLS
House Education Chair, Gerald Stebelton has scheduled a Pro-Common Core presentation to be made by Greater Columbus area superintendents for this Tuesday, May 14th at 4:00 pm, in Statehhouse Mtg Rm 116. Please make sure they hear from you before Tuesday’s presentation.
Please call each of the committee members listed below and ask them the following:
  1. Did you hear that Indiana has put common core on pause to thoroughly vet the standards? National Review Online-Two Moms vs Common Core
  2. Did you hear that four states including Kentucky experienced severe technical problems during online testing including a server crash that will require all tests to be retaken? Washington Post-Severe Technical Problems Raise Concerns Over Online Tests
  3. Did you hear Georgia State Superintendent John Barge warn that Common Core will result in a federal curriculum? Marietta Daily Journal-Common Core Will Bring National Assessment and Federal Curriculum
Legislator switchboard – 800-282-0253
Gerald Stebelton-Chair (very pro-common core), Andrew Brenner, John Becker, Tim Derickson, Bill Hayes, Michael Henne, Matt Huffman, Stephanie Kunze, Kristina Roegner, Marilyn Slaby, Ryan Smith, Andy Thompson
LEVEL TWO PRIORITY – SENATE EDUCATION COMMITTEE CALLS
Same action as above – 800-282-0253
Peggy Lehner-Chair (very pro-common core), Cliff Hite, Troy Balderson, Bill Beagle, Bill Coley, Randy Gardner, Gayle Manning
LEVEL THREE PRIORITY – THANK YOU CALLS
Senator Grassley and Representative Luetkemeyer each solicited Common Core defunding letters within the U.S. Senate and House.  Neither of our Senators sign on but three Ohio Representatives did and deserve our thanks. Their acknowledgment of this federal intrusion lends credibility to our effort to pause Common Core and vet it through our state legislative process, particularly Rep. Jim Jordan’s. As a former Ohio House member, he is well respected and is a staunch school choice advocate. Representative Luetkemeyer’s letter with signers
Rep. Jim Jordan   202-225-2676
Rep Bill Johnson   202-225-5705
Rep. Brad Wenstrup   202-225-3164
SUMMARY
The massive effort to research and educate Ohioans on the implications of Common Core continues. We greatly appreciate your support and ask you to continue to spread the word. The powers that be will always take the path of least resistance. It’s now our job to make that path an exit from Common Core.
Yours In Liberty,
OACC

Action Alert: Stop the Gang of 8 Immigration Train Wreck

According to a recent press release issued by Jeff Sessions, US Senator from Alabama, the central sales pitch for the Gang of Eight's immigration legislation has been the claim of strong border security triggers that are supposed to be the "toughest border immigration enforcement measures in U.S. history." But the promised enforcement is nowhere to be found, in fact, this bill would actually weaken requirements previously enacted by Congress-while granting extraordinary new discretion to the Department of Homeland Security to waive security protocols, removal proceedings, and denials of entry.

This bill also repeals the proven E-Verify workplace enforcement system.

This Amnesty Bill, like Obamacare, is a massive piece of legislation that is quickly ramming its way through the Senate. During one of the Judiciary committee hearings it was clear that the Senate has not had enough time to read and understand all of the impacts of this bill.

No More Train Wrecks

You may have heard last week that Senator Max Baucus, The Architect of Obamacare, said that its implementation was going to be a "train wreck!"

Now the Senate is dead set on pushing another piece of legislation that has all of the same characteristics of Obamacare - The Amnesty Bill.

The Senate is on recess this week, so this is perfect timing for you to show up and let your voices be heard!

If you don't stand up against the "Gangsters of Eight", who will do it for you?

Action Alert: Contact Ohio Republican Party State Central Committee Now!

As the election for Ohio Republican Party (ORP) Chairman will also effect GOP races at all levels -- county, state and federal elections in our state, including the 2016 Presidential election -- it is important that all levels of the Republican Party are also contacted in a final push before this Friday's vote for State Chairman

Your conservative views and voices will NOT be represented with the selection of their hand picked candidate Matt Borges as Ohio Republican Party Chairman and it is up to you - rank and file Republicans, Tea Party supporters and conservative Independents - to stop the GOP establishment elite and their hand picked candidate with a checkered past.

Yesterday we asked that you contact the GOP Statewide elected officials who have endorsed Matt Borges.  Today, we are asking you to please call the ORP State Central Committee (SCC) who will be voting this Friday to select the next ORP State Chairman.  The future of conservatism in Ohio -- hinges on this race.

To date the so-called Tea Party members elected to the ORP SCC last year have failed miserably. They sat silent and REFUSED to come out against Medicaid expansion in Ohio and now they sit silent regarding Matt Borges as ORP State Chairman.

Below are members of the ORP State Central Committee (SCC) for Senate Districts covering Cuyahoga County and surrounding counties.  The ones denoted with *** claimed to be Tea Party or sent out literature with Tea Party logos during their campaign for ORP SCC.

Now is the time to draw the line in the sand
either they represent core conservative value or they don’t!

Take Action

Please contact as many of the ORP SCC members listed below as you can, and ask that they immediately come out publicly against Matt Borges as ORP State Chairman. Ask that they attend this Friday's ORP election for State Chairman, and they support a motion to suspend the rules for an open ballot vote for ORP State Party Chairman.

Action Alert: Stop the War on Coal

Earlier this week we posted on how Region 1 EPA Administrator Curt Spalding stated how they feel "Coal Communities should just go away."

The EPA led "War on Coal" being launched by the Obama Administration and supported by Senator Sherrod "Sluggo" Brown (D-OH) will soon cause electricity rates in the N/E Ohio areas to soar due to four power plants in this region being shut down over the new "air cleaner than God ever intended" restrictions on coal plants.

What is happening here in this area is only a small snapshot of what would happen on a larger scale should President Obama, Senator Sluggo and the EPA be successful in their War on Coal.

Below is info on how you can help stop President Obama's out of control EPA and their War on Coal....

From Tea Party Patriots --

Stop the War on Coal by INSISTING on a YES vote from your Senators on Senate Joint Resolution 37 (S. J. Res. 37), the Inhofe Resolution.

PASSION: This week’s Passion to Action focuses on our efforts to stop another push to increase your utility bills. If you remember, the President warned us that under his Cap and Trade plan, electricity rates would “necessarily skyrocket,” as coal plants would have to be retrofitted and the costs passed on to consumers.

We need to let our Senators know that we disagree. Coal is a plentiful, useful and safe source of electrical power. Many people and many small business “job creators” are dependent on coal to provide consistent low cost energy. At a time when the economy is struggling, this is one of Mr. Obama’s worst ideas. Click here to learn more.

BACKGROUND: Democrats have owned the “global warming will kill us” issue for several decades, but some Republicans , like Senator John McCain, author of the Lieberman-McCain Climate Stewardship Act of 2003, and former congressman Bob Inglis helped to make it a bipartisan issue beginning in 2003. Bob Inglis lost his seat in 2010 and John McCain nearly did as well. In fact, when you look at the voting records of incumbents who were replaced in that election, you might say that the 2010 mid-term elections were a referendum on “Cap and Trade”. It lost, and when it did, President Obama said, ““Cap and trade was just one way of skinning the cat; it was not the only way. It was a means, not an end.” For source, click here.

Instead of Cap and Trade, the Obama Administration has been attempting to reinterpret old laws like the 1970 Clean Air Act to turn them into global warming laws. Their latest regulation is called the Utility Maximum Achievable Control Technology (UMACT) rule (aka MACT, aka “Mercury and Air Toxics Standards” and/or “MATS”). Implementing Utility MACT will raise the cost of coal generated electricity an average of 20% nationally. Unfortunately, there are no environmental benefits associated with the program, but there is a benefit for the President; he gets to keep his word to the Environmental Left to make coal so expensive that alternative energy sources might compete with it. Does this look like a political pay-off to supporters and cronies? It might to someone suspicious of government, someone like you and me. So here’s what we are going to do:

TAKE ACTION

Call your Senators TODAY and ask them to vote for S.J. Res. 37, the Inhofe Resolution to overturn Utility MACT. The vote is expected next week. Here are some talking points: This one rule will increase electricity prices 10 to 20 percent nationally.

1. Increasing utility costs on small businesses that could be creating jobs in this weak economy is irresponsible.

2. What this country needs is more freedom for energy producers and fewer, but smarter regulations. CLICK HERE for more detailed information.

3. Inhofe’s resolution will overturn one of the EPA’s most expensive regulations, the Utility MACT. CLICK HERE for more detailed information.

4. Contact Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) and tell them to support S.J. Res. 37, the Inhofe Resolution.

How You Can Help Save Wisconsin!

The FINAL HOUR is fast approaching for the June 5th recall election in Wisconsin and EVERYTHING is at stake!

Grassroots activists in Wisconsin have worked tirelessly over the last several years to promote fiscal responsibility, but the opposition is waging a war to tear it down!

Tea Party Patriots are mounting a massive ground operation to end the Wisconsin recall once and for all, but we can't do it without you!  With your help - we can take it to the left - and we can win!

From going to Wisconsin to door knock, making calls from your home, giving a financial contribution, or sharing our efforts on social media, YOU can have a huge impact!

For Patriots with the time to go and knock doors and help in Wisconsin, Tea Party Patriots will cover your room and board. For others, you can make calls from home, help with blogging and social media efforts.  There is something everyone can do - are you ready to help save Wisconsin?

This recall election is about much more than any individual candidate. It is about protecting our representative democracy to ensure that the democratic process is allowed to work. If the opposition is successful in Wisconsin, they will replicate this abuse of recall laws in states across the country - AND you can be sure Ohio will be one of them!.

Democrats Raid Social Security Fund and Short Change Your Future

Congress came to terms on a tentative deal last night, that if passed, will extend the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits through the end of 2012. The big dilemma (surprise, surprise) was how to pay for it. President Obama and the Democrats wanted to raise taxes, the Republicans wanted to cut spending to offset the additional costs.  But as par for the course under his failed leadership as Speaker of the House, John Boehner buckled and again walked away with nothing.

Consider this: extending the payroll tax cuts will deprive the Social Security account of $100 billion, which means that the already in-the-red Social Security fund will be driven further into debt. There are some really simple things that the President and Congress can do to replenish Social Security while at the same time extending the payroll tax cut, and none of them need to involve raising taxes on anybody!

Here’s a perfect example: Last spring the Government Accountability Office identified more than $100 billion that could be saved by eliminating duplicative programs!! Following the GAO’s recommendations alone would more than replenish Social Security while maintaining the payroll tax cut.

Instead, Congressional leaders came to terms on a deal that will extend the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits through the end of 2012, but they have not defined clearly how they will pay for it. Is this simply more political posturing in an election year?

It is only expected that the Democrats from OH like Rep. Dennis Kucinich, Rep. Marcy Kaptur, Rep. Fudge & Rep. Betty Sutton  would raid your Social Security fund to pay for unfunded mandates. But the most disturbing and the biggest disappointment is that the freshmen GOP members of Congress from Ohio who rode the Tea Party wave into office -- Rep. Jim Renacci, Rep. Bill Johnson, Rep. Bob Gibbs and Rep. Steve Chabot --  would support short changing your future and again fail to do the job they were elected to do.

Call your Senators and Representative today and tell them to STOP committing our future to unfunded liabilities!

Call Your Senator; Repeal the CLASS Act

REPEAL THE CLASS ACT NOW!

A few weeks ago the bipartisan majority on the Democrat led Senate Appropriations Committee voted to defund part of the ObamCare law, the CLASS Act. The head of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, and other Administrative wonks finally realized that the unsustainable program would be an albatross around their necks if they didn’t shelve it now.

However, it is not gone, just merely waiting in the background for some new infusion of taxpayer cash, to once again forge creative financing for the current Administration. This is where the “savings” in the ObamaCare bill came from and now it is finally out and for the whole nation to see the enormous failure of this program.

Polls are continuing to show that the law is going out of favor with most people as the following Reuters article highlighted...

(Reuters) - Americans' opinion of President Barack Obama's healthcare reform in October reached its lowest point since the law passed in March 2010, according to a monthly poll by the non-profit, non-partisan Kaiser Family Foundation.

The view of the law has been roughly evenly split since its passage, but in October 51 percent said they had an unfavorable opinion, while 34 percent said their opinion was favorable, poll results released on Friday showed.

Although Democrats were still much likelier to view the law favorably than Republicans or independents, the percentage of Democrats who said they and their families were better off under the healthcare law dropped significantly to 27 percent in October from 43 percent in September.
Yesterday on the Senate floor Senators Barrasso (WY), Thune (SD) and Sessions (AL) were discussing the need to repeal this program altogether and they  are right. Now is the time to get rid of another failed government program that would have only been yet another taxpayer subsidized program for years to come. Richard Foster the long time actuary for the government said this was a “recipe for disaster” and as such the Administration finally cried “uncle” and defunded it, so why would we keep it around in any form?

Let’s see government shrink by at least one failed program and find out who the real heroes are in Congress by asking all of our Senators to Repeal the CLASS ACT now!
Call Senator Brown & Senator Portman and ask them to support S720 to
Repeal the CLASS Act.

Action Alert: Protect Voter Integrity in Ohio / Call the Ohio Senate

Action Alert

The bill requiring Photo ID for voting in Ohio (HB 159) is expected to come up for a vote in the Ohio Senate this Tuesday 9/27/11.

Already passed in the OH House and delayed in the OH Senate since June, HB 159 will require voters casting provisional or voting in person to furnish a photo ID for identification purposes...
To amend sections 3501.01, 3503.14, 3503.15, 3503.16, 3503.19, 3503.24, 3503.28, 3505.18, 3505.181, 3505.182, 3505.183, 3509.03, 3509.031, 3509.04, 3509.05, 3509.08, 3511.02, 3511.05, 3511.09, and 4507.50 of the Revised Code to generally require electors who appear at a polling place to vote or who cast absent voter's ballots in person to provide photo identification, to establish a process for electors to receive free photo identification, to establish a process to permit electors with a religious objection to being photographed to vote, and to revise the information that must accompany a provisional ballot for that ballot to be eligible to be counted.
With more than can be counted examples of illegal immigrants voting illegally, and with OH being a known battleground state for the Presidency, it is important we protect the integrity of the voting process in Ohio.

The OH Senate passing HB 159 will minimize the chance of illegal immigrants and non-residents from voting in Ohio.

The OH Senate, though having a GOP majority, is not the bastion of conservatism as you may think. The vote on requiring Photo ID for voting has been put off by the Ohio Senate since June.  WHY?

Because of this, we must let them know keeping the highest standards in voter integrity is of the utmost importance. It is important pressure be put on the GOP members in the OH Senate to pass HB 159.

The question is very simple... if you cannot provide an ID proving who you are and that you are a resident of OH -- why should you be allowed to illegally vote in elections affecting Ohio?

Debt Ceiling Deal is Near - Contact Congress Now!

After passing the Budget Control Act of 2011(H.R.2693) through the use of political thuggery that would make a SEIU leader proud, it is being reported that House Speaker John Boehner, Senate President Harry Reid & Speaker John Boehner have come to a ‘deal’ over the debt ceiling debacle.

  • A debt ceiling increase of up to $2.1 to $2.4 trillion (depending on the size of the spending cuts agreed to in the final deal).
  • They have now agreed to spending cuts of roughly $1.2 trillion over 10 years.
  • The formation of a special Congressional committee to recommend further deficit reduction of up to $1.6 trillion (whatever it takes to add up to the total of the debt ceiling increase). This deficit reduction could take the form of spending cuts, tax increases or both.
  • The special committee must make recommendations by late November (before Congress' Thanksgiving recess).
  • If Congress does not approve those cuts by December 23, automatic across-the-board cuts go into effect, including cuts to Defense and Medicare. This "trigger" is designed to force action on the deficit reduction committee's recommendations by making the alternative painful to both Democrats and Republicans.
  • A vote, in both the House and Senate, on a balanced budget amendment.
This proposal falls far short of the House passed version of Cut, Cap & Balance, and the far weaker and open ended Boehner "Budget Control Act of 2011."

Votes on this deal are expected sometime today and Senator McConnell has acknowledged the debt ceiling limits are already exceeding those in the above deal.....

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell says negotiators are "very close" to nailing down an agreement that would avert a default of the nation's debt obligations.

McConnell tells CNN's "State of the Union" that lawmakers are looking at a $3 trillion package that would raise the debt ceiling in two stages through the elections next year.

Action Alert

Please contact the below GOP Congressional members from Ohio, Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) and Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and urge them to vote NO on this new proposed plan.

Please tell them to stop playing political games with the financial future and national security of the United States. Ask that without hesitation they act to protect the Full Faith and Credit of the United States, ensure payment of Social Security to our seniors and military.

There are several bills currently sitting in the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate, that would enable this to be done, two of them being the Full Faith and Credit Act (H.R. 421 & S.R.226) and the PROMISES Act (H.R.2496).
