Their legislation will require that all Members of Congress, the President, Vice President, and all political appointees in the Administration purchase their health insurance on the Obamacare Exchange without the help of taxpayer-funded subsidies. This legislation also eliminates the special subsidies for congressional staff if it is greater than what they would receive if they were not employed by a congressional office. On September 3, Vitter, DeSantis, and a group of lawmakers sent a letter to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), raising concerns about Obamacare exemptions for Members of Congress, congressional staff, the President, Vice President, and political appointees in the Administration. The lawmakers, who include Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), and Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.) urged OPM to make certain there are no exemptions in their final rule on Obamacare.
