AFP "November is Coming" Bus Tour comes to N/E Ohio

Americans for Prosperity’s ‘November Is Coming’ Bus Tour Stops Put Pressure on Congress Members John Boccieri and Betty Sutton

-Bus Tour Stops will equip citizens to educate others about big government spending records, August 2 and 3–

CLEVELAND – Americans for Prosperity will bring its November Is Coming Bus Tour to Northeast Ohio on August 2nd and 3rd to urge citizens to hold Congress members John Boccieri and Betty Sutton accountable if they continue to support big government policies that are bankrupting America.

“Boccieri and Sutton have joined with Nancy Pelosi in ushering in a new era of bigger government, endless bailouts, a permanently broken federal budget and government control over our decisions,” said Rebecca Heimlich, Ohio State Director of Americans for Prosperity. “Folks need to send a clear message to Boccieri and Sutton that struggling taxpayers can’t afford any more bad decisions from Congress.”

Concerned Ohio citizens will be asked to sign petitions to Congress members Boccieri and Sutton, urging them to vote against big government legislation or be voted against in November.

More than 371,000 Americans have signed AFP’s November Is Coming petition at
www.NovemberIsComing.com telling their elected officials that “If you vote Yes to big government programs or any other freedom-killing legislation, I will vote NO on you in the next election.” The petition goes on to say that the citizen signing the petition will vote against the elected official:
“If you fail to support efforts to repeal ObamaCare and replace it with real reform that puts patients first; vote yes to cap-and-trade energy taxes or fail to stop any related EPA regulation; vote yes to any more bailouts; or fail to stop any attempts to regulate the Internet.”
Activists will be encouraged to go door-to-door and do at-home phone banking as part of a citizen education effort to let people know where Congress members Boccieri and Sutton stand on the issues and to encourage them to contact Boccieri and Sutton to tell them to stop the out-of-control spending and big government policies.

“The public needs to know about Congressman Boccieri’s and Congresswoman Sutton’s past support for endless bailouts, a shameful government takeover of health care, and a cap-and-tax scheme designed to regulate our lives and limit our freedoms. Their constituents can make a difference by letting Congress member know they have had enough of these reckless policies.”

These events are free and open to the public.

Cleveland Tea Party Patriots Candidate Forum; After-Action Report

We had an awesome turnout for the CTPP Candidates Forum with about 65 people attending. The questions posed to the participating candidates were far from the usual softball type questions and settings most typically seen.

The candidates that participated were given no "open book" type questions prior to the event and were told they would be coming into an unknown setting. Other than the most basic description of the format and that their opponents would be invited, the candidates were completely kept in the dark about what they would be facing.

The reasoning behind this was twofold -- one, the Tea Parties should not exist for the candidates & their campaign but for our members & our core values. The other being -- if a candidate must study or prepare for a Candidates Forum, they have no business running for office. They should already know what they stand for and why they are running for office. The candidates were informed that the days of softball type questions and cookie-cutter type formats are a thing of the past with the Tea Party Patriot groups in OH.

Here is a break down on the candidates that attended & those that didn't;

Secretary of State

Sandra O'Brien, who is running for Secretary of State was in attendance, her opponent, John Husted refused to attend.

After first giving a verbal commitment that they would attend the series of candidate forums being hosted by the Tea Party Patriot groups in OH, the Husted campaign played games and wanted to just come and talk to the groups alone. They were told we do not exist for candidates to bloviate pie in the sky promises -- after this the Husted campaign did not respond to several requests for confirmation of their attendance.

State Auditor

Seth Morgan, who is running for State Auditor was in attendance. His opponent, Dave "I was for being Attorney General before I was against it" Yost.... well we don't know what happened to Dave.

When Dave was going to be the Tea Party darling and run against Mike DeWine for Attorney General he was all gung-ho on coming to the events. After he decided to do the bidding for ORP Chairman Kevin DeWine ( and John "CAT Tax" Husted) by abandoning the AG race (and the Tea Parties & 9.12 Groups) for the State Auditor race, Yost refused to schlep in for any of the TPP candidate forums. This brings us to the conclusion Yost would much rather drink Ohio GOP kool-aid than "Tea" with you & me.

For the record, when Dave Yost, who can now be referred to as the AG candidate of yosterday, dropped out of the AG race, he claimed it was the grass roots organizations that asked him to do so. We don't want to say he is not telling the truth, but he has been unable to provide any proof of these requests.

10th Congressional District & OH House 98th District

Peter Corrigan & Ben Franklin running in the District 10 primary were in attendance and both performed very well.

Tim Grendell & Skip Claypool running for OH House 98th District were also in attendance and both of these candidates rose to the occasion also.

****************************

Overall, the candidates all performed very well and should be applauded for their willingness to wade into an unknown format, something rarely done by candidates. We wish them all the best of luck in the May primary races.

We want to thank Steve Christopher (former AG candidate) and Kat Palmer for moderating the event. We also want to thank the Cuyahoga for Liberty group for taping the event for us. The video will be up soon and you can judge the candidates performance for yourself.

Can’t make the 9/12 March on D.C.?

By now I'm sure everyone has heard about the 9.12 Tax Payers March on DC where untold thousands are expected to turn out.

If you can't get to DC and want to participate in some Tea Party Patriot events -- don't worry... as the Weekend of Patriot Day is coming there is a whole bunch of Patriotic 'stuff' to do locally.

First, on the way to the D.C. event the Tea Party Express bus will be stopping in Canton on 9/9. Amy Kremer, one of the Tea Party Patriot National Organizers, will be on the bus and is looking forward to meeting all the die-hard Tea Party Patriots from OH. Amy will be blogging about the Tea Part Express as it makes it way to DC on her Southern Belle Politics Blog.

Then in remembering and honoring the day our country was attacked by flying jihadikaze's, the Richfield Tea Party Patriots will be having Patriot Day Tea Party on 9/11 from 5pm - 7pm. There is going to be a special "seating" area at this event which I am sure will bring a smile and get a good laugh from all attending. This special seating area may just make national news! Click here to RSVP and for more details.

After a good night's sleep of counting terrorists being waterboarded instead of sheep jumping a fence, head down to Mansfield for the Mansfield Tea Party & Bike Rally on September 12th at the Richland County Fairgrounds Nature Park Pavilion. Besides some awesome speakers, this all day event will also feature live bands. Click here to RSVP and for more details.

We hope to see you at one or all of the events!
