Ohio's Top Conservative Bloggers & "We the People"

It was great to see the top conservative bloggers in Ohio, Tom Blumer of Bizzy Blog (www.bizzyblog.com), Matt Hurley & Mark Garbett from Weapons of Mass Discussion (http://massdiscussion.blogspot.com/) and Maggie Thurber of Thurber's Thoughts (http://thurbersthoughts.blogspot.com/
Note: There are many good conservative bloggers in Ohio.  In the very near future, you will soon
hear a lot more about them and from them.

Matt & Tom participated on a panel for one of the break out sessions also.  In sharing his views on the "We the People Convention," Mark G (WMD) offers up his take on Tom B's and Matt's portion of the break out session...
"Those two did a lot to bring blogging to the people and disspell a lot of the esoteric b.s. of some other presenters who tried to make it sound like you had to do what they did to be successful, or that you couldn't cover national events because Malkin already does. Kudos to those two for excellent work...oh yeah, and I helped!"
Weapons of Mass Discussion Live Blogged the "We the People Convention" and has replays of it for Day 1 (Click Here) and for Day 2 (Click Here).

In the world of the blogosphere, Weapons of Mass Discussion, BizzyBlog and Thurbers Thoughts, are what would be considered "grassroots" blogging in the same aspect the Tea Party is a grassroots movement. The mainstream media blogs serve their purpose, but the grassroot blogs like those listed above and the many other like them is where you will find the best sources of information -- especially on issues in your state.

But, pleae be warned there are what are called "trolls" in the blogosphere and some that could be defined as, if the blogosphere were a living person -- they would be the arm pit. Though there are many good blogs -- there are some very bad ones - so beware.  The three highlighted in this post (Weapons of Mass Discussion, BizzyBlog and Thurbers Thoughts)  are award winning, reputable and full of resourceful information nationally and for the State of Ohio.

Not an often ventured into area for most tea party type people, the blogosphere is a tool greatly underused by our movement.  It is an area the left continually uses to shape public opinion and perception. It is an arena we must enter in a much larger presence.  Take the plunge, visit Weapons of Mass Discussion, BizzyBlog and Thurbers Thoughts.

Hermann Cain to Speak at Ohio "We the People" Convention

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

June 14, 2011

GOP PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL
HERMANN CAIN TO SPEAK AT “WE THE PEOPLE CONVENTION”
Cain Scheduled to Appear at Saturday Night PAC Dinner

COLUMBUS, Ohio – June 14, 2011 – We the People Convention, Inc., a 501 (c) 4 non-profit organization today announced that Hermann Cain, one of the GOP presidential candidates, will be a featured speaker at the Saturday night Ohio Citizens PAC dinner at the “We the People Convention”  being held on July 1-2, 2011, at the Columbus Convention Center. (www.WethePeopleConvention.org).

Cain is an American businessman, columnist, minister, and radio host from Georgia. He is best known as the former chairman and CEO of Godfather's Pizza.  His poll numbers have been climbing ever since the first debate in South Carolina

“I am very pleased and excited that Hermann Cain has agreed to reach out to Ohioans by speaking at the We the People Convention,” said Tom Zawistowski, convention president. “He has excited conservative voters with his performance in recent debates and his common sense approach to solving problems. Our Ohio Citizens PAC dinner is not a black-tie high roller event reserved only for the state’s elite political class.  It a chance for common citizens to hear Mr. Cain with their own ears and see him with their own eyes and have a chance to look him in the eye and shake his hand. These are the citizen activists that will decide who wins Ohio in 2012.”

Many political analysts have projected the successful GOP candidate will need to win the state of Ohio if he or she expects to capture the White House in the 2012 presidential election. Historically, Ohio has been critical in deciding the outcome of the presidential election. Rarely has a presidential candidate won the presidency without the backing of Ohio.

Cain participated in Monday night’s GOP presidential debate, sparring with the other seven political figures who have declared their intentions to fight for the GOP presidential nomination including Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Michelle Bachmann, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul.

In addition to Cain’s appearance, “We the People Convention” will be hosting notable figures such as Wall Street Journal columnist John Fund; Political Analyst Dick Morris; Tea Party Patriots Co-Founder Jenny Beth Martin, Matthew Spalding, Vice President for American Studies at The Heritage Foundation; Rebecca Hemleich of Americans for Prosperity; and ACORN whistleblower Anita Moncrief.

For Immediate Release

TEA PARTY PATRIOTS ANNOUNCED AS CONVENTION SPONSOR
CO-FOUNDER SCHEDULED TO SPEAK AT
“WE THE PEOPLE CONVENTION”

National Tea Party Figure Jenny Beth Martin Highlights Friday’s Luncheon

COLUMBUS, Ohio – May 17, 2011 – We the People Convention, Inc., a 501 (c) 4 non-profit organization today announced that the Tea Party Patriots have signed on as a sponsor of the statewide “We the People Convention” and that Jenny Beth Martin , nationally known speaker and co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots, will be the featured guest speaker at the Friday luncheon on July 1, 2011.  The Tea Party Patriots is a national grassroots coalition with more than 3,300 locally organized chapters and more than 15 million supporters nationwide. The “We the People Convention” is being held on July 1-2, 2011, at the Columbus Convention Center in downtown Columbus. (www.WethePeopleConvention.org).

“I am so pleased that Jenny Beth, a true grassroots patriot, has agreed to speak at the We the People Convention,” said Tom Zawistowski, convention president. “Jenny Beth has influenced and motivated Americans nationwide with her message about fiscal responsibility and constitutionally limited government. She has inspired many people to get off the sidelines and take a more active role in holding government accountable. I know our attendees will give her a warm welcome.”

After hearing CNBC commentator Rick Santelli challenge Chicago to a 1773, Boston-style response to the country’s expanding, fiscally irresponsible government, Martin, along with several others, orchestrated the first round of tea parties on February 27. After which, she helped coordinate a nationwide April 15 rally to coincide with Tax Day, resulting in more than 850 TEA parties across the country with over 1.2 million people gathering to advocate government fiscal responsibility.

Additionally, Martin helped organize and lead the September 12, 2009 protest in Washington and is remembered for her comments directed at the legislators, “We were not loud enough in February, in April, in July. Can you hear us now?”

In April 2010, Time magazine named Martin one of the most influential people in the world. She has been featured on “The Glenn Beck Show” and “Your World” with Neil Cavuto as well as in various publications, including The New York Times.

The “We the People Convention” consists of two days of educational breakout sessions, interspersed with major national figures including conservative strategist Dick Morris. Its purpose is to educate and train citizens about the political process and to encourage involvement in that process at the grassroots level.

Ohio " We the People" Convention

We the People Convention, Inc.
4682 State Route 43 • Kent, Ohio • 44240 • 866-427-9257
For Immediate Release: April 12, 2011

WE THE PEOPLE CONVENTION SET FOR JULY 1-2 IN COLUMBUS
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The first-annual “We the People Convention” – a gathering of citizens interested in participating in the governing process as provided by the Ohio and US Constitutions  – will be held in Columbus, Ohio on July 1-2, 2011 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center and will feature nationally known political analyst Dick Morris as a keynote speaker. Candidates who declare their intention to run for President of the United States in 2012 will also be invited and expected to attend the two-day event.
“Our mission statement is clear. The purpose of this statewide convention shall be to recruit, educate, and motivate Ohio citizens at the grassroots level to perform their constitutionally defined role in the governance of their townships, municipalities, and counties, as well as in our state and nation, by providing opportunities, knowledge, and training to ensure limited constitutional governance,” said Tom Zawistowski, president of We the People Convention, Inc.
The convention was announced today in a press conference at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. We the People Convention, Inc., is a state registered 501(c) 4 non-profit educational corporation based in Columbus. Zawistowski also announced the formation of a new State Political Action Committee (PAC) called the Ohio Citizens PAC which will host two dinners around the convention to raise money for Patriot groups around the state. The PAC dinner on Friday, July 1, 2011 will feature Morris, while the dinner on Saturday night, July 2, 2011 is expected to feature presidential candidates.
Zawistowski added, “Our goal is to educate citizens about the political process and the effects of that process on governance. For many of us in the Patriot Movement, it is clear that we have the government we have because we have not fully participated in the political process as is provided by the Ohio and U.S. Constitutions. If we are not happy with the government we have, it is up to “We the People” to change the direction of government through our participation. However, based on recent experience, we have found that regular citizens have not been able to exercise their rights effectively primarily due to a lack of understanding of how things work. The goal of this convention is to rectify that situation.”
“We expect to attract, conservative citizens from all parts of the political spectrum.  Some will be members and leaders of TEA Party and 912 groups, others will be devotees of tax reform, gun rights, states rights and other conservative issues.”
The We the People Convention will consist of two days of educational breakout sessions, interspersed with major national figures speaking at luncheons and at two evening dinners being hosted by the Ohio Citizens PAC on Friday and Saturday night of the Convention.  Additional speakers will be announced as they are contracted. The website for the Convention is located at www.WethePeopleConvention.org
