Health Care Action Alert: Burn Up the Phones!

Dear Fellow Tea Party Patriots,

This week there is forward momentum again in the health care debate. Today the President rolled out his own version of a health care plan. It is reported that if the Republicans filibuster, the Democrats will push the bill via reconciliation through anyway.

On Thursday, the President will meet with the leadership of both parties to discuss health care. So, that means, it is up to us, We the People, to make sure Congress knows we do not want the government to take over our health care. We have several specific actions to take over the course of the week to keep the pressure up.

Call the second half of the Targeted Congressmen listed below and tell them to vote no on health care. Ask them if they have signed the Declaration of Health Care Independence and let us know their answers.

If you cannot get through to their offices and it is your own Congressman, then call the local media and tell them what is happening. Details on how to do this are below.

Can't Get Through to Your Senator or Congressman? Call the Media!

As you already know, it has become virtually impossible to communicate with your elected representatives. Senators are taking their phones off the hook, unplugging their fax machines and ignoring the thousands of emails pouring into their computers. They simply aren't interested in hearing from you. Against overwhelming public pressure, and polls which continue to show that an increasingly large majority of Americans oppose what they are doing, the Senate appears poised to pass a health care bill which none of them have even read. And yet even as public outrage and anger grow, the media is remiss in its coverage, pretending that we don't exist. So now it's time to change strategies.

While we want you to continue to call your Senators, any time you can't get through, we encourage you to call your local radio and television stations and newspapers to express your outrage at your continuing inability to reach your elected representatives. When we melt the switchboards of the media outlets, it becomes far more likely that they will begin reporting on your outrage. If thousands of people in each area are calling their media outlets, they will struggle to handle the flow of calls. While Senators may ignore us, the media outlets are businesses that cannot afford to stop answering our calls.

Don't give up...the battle is not over. The fight is in full swing, and it's up to the Patriots around the nation to make the difference. You are the future of this nation, and only you can make the difference.

PriceWaterhouseCooper released an independent study of the Senate Finance Committee version of the government takeover of health care bill. The study showed that American family's budgets will be severely impacted by the bill and that health insurance premiums will increase dramatically. You may wish to read the study and use this as supporting documentation when you contact the Senators.

The fight over health care reform burst back into public view Tuesday as four Democratic senators asked Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to hold a vote on a government-run public insurance option.

Most observers have considered the public option -- an idea long favored by liberal Democrats -- to be a non-starter since it was dropped from a Senate reform bill passed in December. But Sens. Michael Bennet of Colorado, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Jeff Merkley of Oregon, and Sherrod Brown of Ohio signed a letter urging Reid, D-Nevada, to hold a vote on the proposal under a rule known as a reconciliation, which would allow the measure to pass with only 51 votes -- a simple majority.

The letter was co-signed by 119 Democrats in the House of Representatives.

Liberal groups MoveOn.org, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Democracy for America, and Credo Action are pushing other Democratic senators to sign the letter as well. More...

Standing strong when it comes to healthcare

From the Medina Tea Party Patriots --

Last week President Obama announced his plans to host bipartisan “healthcare talks” with Republican and Democratic congressional leaders on February 25th. Now, it seems the President wants to post a proposal for a legislative overhaul online before the February meeting. The proposal would be constructed by selected Democrats and Republicans – invitation only, of course. (Click here to read full article)

Many are wondering – will the healthcare bill rear its ugly head again, and if so, when? While the answer is not clear, the one thing that is for sure is conservatives cannot sit on the sidelines and hope that the Democrats don’t launch a “healthcare surprise” on the American people. We must be on the offense, which is exactly what conservatives within the House are doing.

Congressmen John Boehner and Eric Cantor recently sent a letter to President Obama (Read letter here), asking some very tough questions about his commitment to move forward on healthcare in a bipartisan way. Congressman Tom Price also chimed in on Obama’s February 25th “negotiation talks” by making the following statement that can be read here.

It is important that these conservatives in Congress continue to stand strong and ask the tough questions, especially during their bipartisan talks with the president and Democrats, which is why we are asking you to contact them.

Below is a partial list of Republicans who will be attending the February 25th meeting. We invite you to send them an e-mail, encouraging them to fight for our healthcare freedoms, to be vocal about their healthcare reform plans and, most importantly, not to cave in to political pressure.

Support OH's Freedom of Choice Health Care

From The Cleveland 9.12 Project --

We're still in limbo on the healthcare bill in DC. Earlier this week, in a blog titled “The State of the Undead Bill,” Hot Air argued that “The only safe conclusion is that the Democrats are, at some level, still trying to pass ObamaCare, including the politically risky step returning it to the front burner closer to the election.” http://hotair.com/arc...

While the legislation in Congress is stalled, many states have been formulating legislation to inoculate residents from any federal healthcare mandates. Good news. The Washington Post reported the other day that “Virginia's Democratic-controlled state Senate passed measures Monday that would make it illegal to require individuals to purchase health insurance, a direct challenge to the party's efforts in Washington to reform health care.” http://www.washington...

Here is a website that is monitoring "Freedom of Choice Health Care" legislation in all 50 states : http://www.alec.org/A...

As most of you know, last summer, members of the Ohio House of Representatives proposed HJR3, a joint resolution to free Ohioans from federally mandated health insurance. You can read the resolution here http://www.legislatur...

Rep. Ron Maag is one of the sponsors of this resolution. I am told by Rep. Maag’s office that the HJR3 had one hearing and is now stuck in the Insurance Committee. Rep. Dan Dodd is the chair of this Committee, and he needs to hear from us.

The message: the Chair of the Insurance Committee needs to put the second hearing of HJR3 onto the calendar, so it does not die in committee. We want to see this resolution get voted out of committee and onto the House floor, and then get on a ballot before Ohio voters. Ohio should follow Virginia's lead, and join other states (per the link above) that are proposing similar resolutions or bills to protect citizens from federally mandated healthcare insurance.

In addition, Rep. Maag will be grateful for any ammunition you can provide him, with your calls / faxes/ e-mails to him on this resolution. The committee and the House are both Democrat-majority, so this alert needs to be sustained. For those of you who prefer, snail mail is also an option. Be sure to cc: your own representative.

Pelosi still pushing for Health Care Bill

San Fran Nan, the PVC-faced Princess of the Progressives and Squawker of the House, is still determined to push a broken Health Care Reform plan on the citizens of this country.

Politico is reporting that Pelosi is expected to schedule a vote next week on a scaled down version of a health care baill that will rescind a half-century-old exemption from antitrust laws for the health insurance companies....

The vote is part of her new two-track strategy to tackle things that won’t be included in a more sweeping bill — if Congress ever passes one — while giving her members something politically popular to vote on. The move also puts pressure on Republicans, the industry and wavering Democrats, who wish their leaders would abandon the push altogether.

The bill comes as party brass struggles to find a path forward in the broader health care reform effort and amounts to a concession to her caucus as more sweeping legislation twists in the wind. The House bill would resemble a section of the House health care bill that ends an exemption for health and medical malpractice insurers and grants the federal government more authority to regulate antitrust laws.

The Senate didn’t include an antitrust provision in its health care legislation because Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) couldn’t muster the 60 votes needed to include it.

Also, Nebraska Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson — himself a former state insurance commissioner — opposed the House measure, so the bill would face long odds in the Senate. More...

Declaration of Health Care Independence

More than 61% of Americans say it is time to drop government takeover of health care. Congressmen Michele Bachmann, Steve King, and Louie Gohmert have created a Declaration of Health Care Independence and asked for input from our Local Coordinators as they developed it. Tea Party Patriots is endorsing the Declaration of Health Care Independence.

For those within driving distance of DC, we invite you to attend the Tea Party Patriots Press Conference on Wed. January 27th at 1 p.m. at the National Press Club (529 14th Ave NW, Washington, DC 20045) when we announce our endorsement of the Declaration and encourage our elected officials and all Patriots to pledge their support.

Check www.teapartypatriots.org web site for the Declaration of Health Care Independence Pledge to sign. We should have the pledge online in the next few days.

Fiscal Reform Amendment

The debt ceiling has increased from approximately $10.62 trillion to $12.33 trillion in the last year. Now Congress is considering raising the limit to $14.3 trillion!

Instead of increasing the debt ceiling, Senator Tom Coburn has the novel idea to cut spending and leave the debt ceiling alone. The government has gotten fat for years off the American taxpayer by creating more and more programs that do exactly the same thing. For example, there are more than 14 programs administered by the U.S. Department of Education related to foreign exchanges and designed to increase opportunities for students to study abroad.

This amendment to the currently proposed federal debt increase will put the federal government on a massive diet by reducing redundant programs, releasing unspent funds to pay down the debt, thereby saving the taxpayers billions of dollars each year. It will cut spending by $120 billion, consolidate 640 duplicative government programs, and prevents politicians from pursuing the fiscal obesity plaguing our nation.

You are the heart and soul of the Tea Party Movement. Thank you for promoting the causes of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free markets with us!

Tea Party Patriots are just ordinary people reclaiming America's founding principles.

Debbie Dooley, Mike Gaske, Kellen Giuda, Ryan Hecker, Jenny Beth Martin, Mark Meckler, Sally Oljar, Diana Reimer, Billie Tucker, and Dawn Wildman

Democrats De-Form Health Care Re-form

After Coakley conceded the U.S. Senate Race in MA last night, some of the Democrats quickly issued statements on what their next steps should be on the current Health Care Reform fight.

After hearing the "Scott" heard round the world, ultra-liberal Rep. Barney Frank issued the following statement.....

“I have two reactions to the election in Massachusetts. One, I am disappointed. Two, I feel strongly that the Democratic majority in Congress must respect the process and make no effort to bypass the electoral results. If Martha Coakley had won, I believe we could have worked out a reasonable compromise between the House and Senate health care bills. But since Scott Brown has won and the Republicans now have 41 votes in the Senate, that approach is no longer appropriate.

I am hopeful that some Republican Senators will be willing to discuss a revised version of health care reform because I do not think that the country would be well-served by the health care status quo. But our respect for democratic procedures must rule out any effort to pass a health care bill as if the Massachusetts election had not happened.

Going forward, I hope there will be a serious effort to change the Senate rule which means that 59 votes are not enough to pass major legislation, but those are the rules by which the health care bill was considered, and it would be wrong to change them in the middle of the process.”

Boy, it sounds as if Frank is starting to get it!

Sen. Jim Webb issued this statement pretty much putting to rest any questions on the certification of Scott Browns victory....
In many ways the campaign in Massachusetts became a referendum not only on health care reform but also on the openness and integrity of our government process. It is vital that we restore the respect of the American people in our system of government and in our leaders. To that end, I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated. (Politico)

It will be very interesting to see how the Health Care bill plays out.... will they finally listen to the American people or will they arrogantly continue trying to ram through health care which as we see, some of the Dems strongest supporters are starting to back away from?

Will the OH Attorney General do what is right for OH Voters?

Attorney General Cordray is urging members of Ohio's congressional delegation to oppose the provision that would give preferential treatment to the state of Nebraska.

To view Attorney General Cordray's letter to the Ohio delegation, go to www.OhioAttorneyGeneral.gov/ HealthCareLetter.

For the record & again showing your calls work, this letter was not posted on the A.G. website the DAY AFTER the Medina Tea Party Patriots started contacting their office.

Fellow Patriots, AG Cordray's letter, though nice at tooting his own political horn, is nothing more than empty words. It is time our politicians stop putting our money where their mouth is and start doing their job! Instead of asking the OH congressional delgation to fight the health care bribery package put in place for Nebraska and other states, Attorney General Cordray should use every means available to him as Attorney General in stopping this -- not pawning it off on others.

If Attorney General Cordray is REALLY against this preferential treatment he should do his part in representing the State of Ohio's best interest and join South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster -- the leader of a group of 13 Republicans and one Democrat State Attorneys General -- who are threatening to file a law suit against Congress in order to stop passage of the radical health care bill currently being considered.

We are asking you to contact Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray and urge him to join the other State Attorney General's Offices in their efforts. Kindly remind Attorney General Cordray's office that the Tea Party Patriots in Ohio are fully aware he is up for re-election this year.

You can also go to the Ohio Attorney General website (
http://www. ohioattorneygeneral.gov/) where you can file a consumer complaint against the very health care bill that Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray says unfairly burdens residents in Ohio.

Scott Brown: Working for the "People's Seat"

d
From
American Glob --

About 24 hours ago, I uploaded a short video on YouTube of Massachusetts senate candidate Scott Brown, in which he declared to debate moderator David Gergen “With all due respect, it’s not the Kennedy’s seat, it’s not the Democrats’ seat, it’s the people’s seat.” At the time of this writing, just 24 hours later, that video has been viewed over 270,000 times.

Last night and today, the video was embedded or linked on countless blogs and was even featured on the
Drudge Report. That moment of the debate was discussed by Rush Limbaugh on his radio show today and the video was embedded on his website.

Scott Brown was able to summarize a national zeitgeist in four simple words, “it’s the people’s seat.”

D.C. Code Red Rally: A visit to Sen. Jim Webb's Office (Video)

This was sent to us from one of the Cleveland Tea Party Patriot members that attended the D.C. Code Red Rally on 12/15/09.

Dear ALL Patriotic Americans:

This is the video of our meeting in Sen. Jim Webb's office in Washington, D.C. on December 15, 2009. The tall man in the light suit is Webb's chief of staff....I have seen him being interviewed on FOX. (I am hidden in the corner by the door, right under the man standing on the chair with his camera.....but you can't see me.)

The blond woman in the red snowflake sweater, resident of of the good state of Virginia, is an American History, U. S. Constitution, and English teacher/expert. She home-schooled her 4 children. She was well-spoken and knew her subject using the U.S. Constitution. She also spoke at Sen. Mark Warner's senate office with his Chief of Staff, Luke Albee......what a "talking points" leftist clone he was...rambling on and on with distorted facts and figures. We called him on it.

The majority of Virginians who spoke up allowed us (from Ohio and Tenn. to speak up). Chief of Staff Albee tried to shut us down, but the Virginians stepped in and defended my right to speak up because "we were all Americans together" and what Sen. Webb does affects all of the U.S. It was a hoot. The Virginians are quite spirited and firmly grounded with patriotism and love of our country. This is an anti-life bill and democrat Sen. Ben Nelson, Nebraska, sold his soul. There is no way a person who says he is pro-life can even be a democrat because the democrat party has been hijacked by leftist/socialists who worship at the culture of death altar. Sen. Nelson lied.....and we all know Obama lies. What is happening in Congress is an assault on our God-given freedoms. Vote them out of office in 2010.

Note the doctor that came in to speak out (Dr. Sachs). I believe he is in the 2nd or 3rd video. The doctor should run for Webb's senate seat.

God bless America,
Dee

Action Alert: Senate Grinch Forcing Health Care Through

Dear Fellow Tea Party Patriots,

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid threatens to be the Grinch who stole Christmas. Sen. Reid is saying that he will keep the Senate in session to shove government takeover of health care down our throats on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

This is an outrage! It shows the an absolute disrespect to the most sacred Christian holiday. In an era of political correctness, it is stunning that the Senate Majority Leader is willing to disregard the most sacred of Christian holidays.

In addition to shunning the Christians of America, he is preventing the Senate staff members on the Hill in DC from going home for the holidays. The staff members in Senate district offices will also have to pull longer hours. This will prevent them from being able to spend the Christmas holiday with their families around the country.

Unfortunately it appears Senator Ben Nelson folded. We just received notice from Senator David Vitter (LA) that the main Senate Grinch, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, has his 63 votes and intorduced the Health Care bill on the floor this morning. Efforts are in place to have the bill read in its' entirety. We do not yet know who the 3 turncoats are.

If this bill passes the Senate in 2009, the taxes on the health care bill will go into effect on January 1, 2010 but the benefits do not go into effect for another four years. How can it be so important to pass the bill in the next few days when benefits do not begin for years? How can the Senate be so disrespectful to Americans?

It is time to again call the below listed Senators to express your frustration about these actions.

If you have trouble calling the DC offices, call the district offices. You are making a difference showing up at demonstrations and melting the phone lines. Do not let the pressure off and do not ease up the intensity of your passion. Keep up the good work! We are so proud to stand beside you in this battle. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help you!

Tea Party Patriot Action Alert: Passion to Action List

Fellow Patriots,

Many of you are probably wondering, "Are we really making a difference?!?” The answer is a resounding YES!!!!

The Senate still has not voted on Cap and Trade and their goal was for that to be law by now. The Senate and House Leadership expected the health care bill to be out of Congress (both the House and the Senate) before the August recess. As we know, even with the help of a White House pay off, it barely squeaked by in the House and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is scrambling to get the 60 votes he needs.

With your continued help and we can make sure this does not happen. Together, each and everyone of us is making a difference. And this is why the below Action Alert is so important!

One thing we are asking you to do that is different this week is to call not just the Targeted Senators and your own Senators but also the Senate Minority Leadership (see list of phone numbers below).

Erick Erickson from Redstate.com explains why it is important that the Republican minority fight the government takeover of health care in the Senate with everything they have. We implore you to take the time to read this article in Redstate.

To defeat this bill which will take away our liberty, we need Republicans to step up to the plate and exercise their rights in the Senate as much as we need the targeted Senators to vote no on the bill.

From what we are gathering, many of the Senators in the minority need to know that we support them. Today we were notified that the Senate offices have been buried with calls from AARP members urging them to support the Senate health care bill. It is very important that we encourage these Senators to stand up and fight. They seemingly do not have the courage and conviction to do what is right because it is the right thing to do on their own.

They need us to give them that courage! This week we are going to give it to them!

Passion to Action Weekly To Do List

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

8:45 AM For those in DC, meet at Upper Senate Park to break into groups and go into the Senate Office Buildings to talk to our Senators for Government Waiting Rooms.

Time: 3:00pm - 5:30pm
Address: 1240 E. 9th Street Cleveland, OH 44199 (E.9th & Lakeside)

If you cannot personally visit, PLEASE make phone calls and send faxes to DC and the local district offices. Ask your Senators to vote NO on the health care bill. If your Senator is already voting no, ask the Senator to exercise every single parliamentary procedure in the Senate to stop this bill. Tell them you personally and on behalf of other Tea Party Patriots from around the country support their no vote and their actions to stop the bill.

Wednesday, December 16, 2009 - Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party

Call the Targeted Senators (listed below) and tell them to vote no on health care. Remind them that our country was founded out of frustration over high taxes and inadequate representation. Remind them that between 51 - 56% of Americans do not want this bill and they represent us, We the People.
