Matt Margolis at PJ Media covered this latest idiocy:
Social media was abuzz on Friday
after Newsmax TV host John Cardillo noticed that the United States Navy’s
official Twitter account featured an altered version of its logo with the bald
eagle wearing a blue face mask.

Matt Gaetz
has been in the headlines recently over what may be trumped-up charges of
sexual abuse. Assuming those charges to
be a means to intimidate Rep. Gaetz and pressure him to resign, what got Republic
Journal’s attention was the reflexive support coming from the conservative
right. Republic Journal doesn’t think
much of Mr. Gaetz, and here’s an excerpt:
Gaetz was at a school in Fort Walton Beach Florida when a student asked him about Florida legislation that allowed gay couples to adopt kids. Matt said that he was proud to have sponsored that legislation. This was a strange and bizarre statement because Matt NEVER sponsored any legislation for that purpose. Why the lie? No one knows but what came next was shocking as Matt continued by saying that he didn’t believe young people were as judgmental as the older generation. By judgmental, he meant that older conservatives believed it’s best for a child to be adopted by a male/female couple to represent mother and father. No one asked him about the older generation, but he used the same phrase that’s taught by the LGBT community for leaders to use.
What’s the point of my rambling? Matt isn’t what people think that he is
and ALL of us should desire principle above personality. His supporters
can’t point to a single piece of legislation that he’s been behind that we
support. They can’t explain why he received maximum donations from strip
clubs or used his committee to expand gambling rights when every member voted
against it. Matt has a gift of gab but lacks leadership qualities and
depth of conviction. If we are to drain the swamp then we must desire character
above personality and action above talk. Because Matt talks a good talk
no one noticed that he joined the climate change committee to advance their
legislative goals. No one noticed how he attempted to stop a sex
trafficking bill that allowed government agencies to talk to each other in
real-time to save children from that evil trade. No one noticed that he
was the deciding vote to push Obamacare 2.0 out of the finance committee when
conservatives wanted it dead on arrival. . . .

For those who seek a good explanation of what it means to be “Woke,” musician Tal Bachman has some good answers (posted at Mark SteynOnline). Here’s an extract:
. . .Through it all, a counterfeit
moral imperative with a deceptively appealing name ("social justice")
drives the cult. That counterfeit imperative casts all existence as one great
battle between Good (Wokism) and Evil (everything that is not Woke). It denies
any constraints on efforts to win that battle. It entails an obsessive
totalitarianism. It forbids critical self-examination of itself. Adherents of
the cult are Knowers of the One True Truth. They are crusaders in righteous
battle. Only victory matters. Anyone so much as questioning the One True Truth,
inside or out, must be destroyed.
Although this is often denied to
outsiders, Wokist theology requires hatred of America. It teaches that America
was conceived in sin and remains insufferably sinful. It therefore decrees that
America deserves execution and cremation into nothingness. Into that
newly-created void, Wokism itself must move. Only then will
righteousness prevail. Making this happen is a sacred obligation for all cult
members. Their great success shows their sincerity.
It's worth mentioning that while
Wokists want to destroy the United States of America, they don't mind the name.
For now anyway, they want to keep it. Retention of the name "The United
States of America" works as a kind of soporific: it helps obscure what they're
actually doing.
And what they're actually doing is
something like an Invasive Parasite Play: While keeping the outer forms (like
the country's name, like "elections", etc.) intact, they move in to
co-opt and control the structures and institutions which really run the country
(which is to say, the structures and institutions which control us). As a
result, millions remain oblivious that Wokists are destroying and replacing
everything that ever constituted the country—that is, that they are changing
what 'The United States of America' actually is.
Among many other things, that means
first targeting public order, buildings, cities, fair trials, public trust,
careers, police forces, education, laws, educations, freedom of speech and
religion and assembly and press, codes of ethics, corporate practices, borders,
political boundaries, the military, the economy, demography, religious beliefs,
customs, music, books, myths, movies, family dynamics, sexuality, heroes,
villains, history, aspirations, everything, and then, wherever possible, either
destroying them or replacing them with Wokist substitutes.
I mentioned above the analogy of an
invasive parasite, but this play is really something even more ambitious. It's
a metamorphosis play, where
infiltration, destruction, and replacement is followed by transforming the
United States into some completely different entity altogether. That
different entity is on track to resemble the former East Germany—a totalitarian
puppet-state run by a lawless secret police, subservient to a greater foreign
power—far more than any iteration of America throughout its history.
How did we get here? How have so
many people—especially Millennials—fallen for a cheap, Marx-inspired,
totalitarian deception?

Drew Allen at American Greatness explained why, in his view, Mike Pence is not Presidential material. Mr. Allen compared the contested election of 1876 to November 2020:
A stalemate ensued for three months
in 1876 as both Democrats and Republicans refused to give in. The contested
states sent competing electors to Washington, D.C. In 1876 this was unprecedented.
But the Republicans of 1876 didn’t cave as Mike Pence did. When it came time to
certify the electoral votes in 2021, Pence
remarked, “When the Joint Session of Congress convenes today, I will do my
duty to see to it that we open the certificates of the Electors of the several
states, we hear objections raised by Senators and Representatives, and we count
the votes of the Electoral College for President and Vice President in a manner
consistent with our Constitution, laws, and history. So Help Me God.”
. . .
Over 120 members of Congress voiced their objections to electoral certification. Here is what Pence then said:
“It is my considered judgment that
my oath to support and defend the Constitution constrains me from claiming
unilateral authority to determine which electoral votes should be counted and
which should not,” Pence declared.
But Pence didn’t support and defend the Constitution. He revealed that he wasn’t
willing to fight for the Constitution.
The full article by Mr. Allen is here. Constitutional conservatives have crossed Mike
Pence off their list.
