Obamacare -- Ohio Style?

As we prepared to celebrate the birth of our country and freedom from oppresive and government intrusion, on 6/29/11 some members of Ohio's Donkey Brigade in Columbus introduced legislation that will create an Ohio version of Obamacare -- HB 287.

In part, and in creating regional health care boards, HB 287 will enact the Ohio Health Security Act to establish and operate the Ohio Health Care Plan to provide universal health care coverage to all Ohio residents.....
Sec. 3922.01.  As used in this chapter:
(A) "Blind trust" means an independently managed trust in which the beneficiary has no management rights and in which the beneficiary is not given notice of alterations in or other dispositions of the stock, mutual funds, or other property subject to the trust.
Sec. 3922.02.  (A)(1) There is hereby created the Ohio health care plan, which shall be administered by the Ohio health care agency under the direction of the Ohio health care board.
(2) The Ohio health care plan shall provide universal and affordable health care coverage for all Ohio residents, consisting of a comprehensive benefit package that includes benefits for prescription drugs. The Ohio health care plan shall work simultaneously to control health care costs, control health care spending, achieve measurable improvement in health care outcomes, increase all parties' satisfaction with the health care system, implement policies that strengthen and improve culturally and linguistically sensitive care, and develop an integrated health care database to support health care planning.
(B) There is hereby created the Ohio health care agency. The Ohio health care agency shall administer the Ohio health care plan and is the sole agency authorized to accept applicable grants-in-aid from the federal and state government, using the funds in order to secure full compliance with provisions of state and federal law and to carry out the purposes of sections 3922.01 to 3922.33 of the Revised Code. All grants-in-aid accepted by the Ohio health care agency shall be deposited into the Ohio health care fund established under section 3922.09 of the Revised Code.
In its' entirety, HB 287 (click to read HB 287) is nothing more than trying to enact Obamacare at the state level through newly created regional and state boards deciding your healthcare.

To combat this Ohio style of Obamacare, signatures for the Ohio Healthcare Freedom Amendment to be on the ballot this upcoming election will be submitted this Wednesday (7/6/11) to the OH Secretary of States office. Getting this on the ballot and passed is the first step in protecting Ohio residents from Obamacare's forced health care insurance mandate.  (Click here to join in the Signature Submittal Rally this Wednesday).

The second step to Healthcare Freedom in Ohio is through SB 189, the Ohio Health Care Compact, which when passed and approved by Congress, will give Ohio residents the right to craft healthcare laws task specific to our needs.

Judge Sets Deadline on Obamacare Ruling

The brilliant tactic of thinking if they ignore it long enough, Judge Vinson might forget about his January ruling that Obamacare is unconstitutional -- didn't work.  Judge Vinson has given the Administration 7 days to respond by Appeal or his ruling that Obamacare is unconstitutional will stand.

From American Spectator --
Judge Roger Vinson, who declared the national health care law unconstitional in January, granted the Obama administration a 7-day stay allowing them to continue implementing the law, but he ordered them to file for an expidited appeal within a week.

"The sooner this issue is finally decided by the Supreme Court, the better off the entire nation will be," Vinson wrote.

Jamie Dupree has more details. Ruling here.

Ohio AG Mike DeWine to join Multi-State Lawsuit against Obama Care

The Cleveland Tea Party Patriots would like to thank Attorney General DeWine for being a man of his word and immediately fulfilling one of his most important campaign promises.

From Columbus Dispatch --
On his first day in office yesterday, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine sought to fulfill a campaign pledge by asking Florida's attorney general to let him join a lawsuit challenging federal health-care reforms.

DeWine, a Republican, sent a letter to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi asking to join a multistate lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of reforms championed by President Barack Obama.

Florida is the lead plaintiff in a case in which about 20 states are contesting the federal government's authority to require Americans to buy health insurance.

Bondi's office couldn't say yesterday how many other states have asked to join the case this year. DeWine and five other Republicans replaced Democratic attorneys general after the 2010 election cycle.

Senator Sherrod Brown calls those who opposed Health Care "Racist"

President Obama's puppet from Ohio, Senator Sherrod Brown, feels all those who opposed the recently passed health care reform are racist. And then typical of the double speak dipweeds in D.C., "clarifies" his statements....
During a bipartisan education seminar for congressional interns last week, Ohio Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown told a crowd of young people that those who opposed the Democrats’ health-care reform plan were on the wrong side of history, much like segregationists who opposed the Civil Rights movement.

While most speakers who participate in the summer lecture series discuss what it’s like working in Washington or use the time to motivate the internship class, some who were present during the Tuesday meeting said Brown took the opportunity to launch what they considered to be “a partisan attack.”

“He said that people who were opposed to health-care reform were similar to the bigots and racists that were against desegregation reform,” a Republican congressional intern who attended the lecture told The Daily Caller. The intern requested not to be named. “It was ridiculous,” he added.

A spokeswoman for Brown’s office confirmed that the senator discussed how Republicans use the filibuster, but clarified that he did not intend to compare opponents of the recent health-care law passed in May to supporters of segregation. (Daily Caller)

So Brown feels people who opposed the Constitution shredding health care reform that will in effect through cuts to Medicaid & Medicare wheel seniors into a corner and let them die are racist but remains silent about groups openly calling for the destruction of the United States and killing of U.S. citizens.

Would you expect anything less from a person such as Sherrod Brown who has long pushed an anti-American agenda?

Reid supporting Public Option & Reconciliation on Health Care

It looks like some people just don't know when to leave well enough alone. This is a clear sign they are bowing to the pressures of the extreme progressives on the left.

From Politico --
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid signaled today that he would support including a public option in a reconciliation bill.

Reid spokesman Rodell Mollineau put out this statement:

Senator Reid has always and continues to support the public option as a way to drive down costs and create competition. That is why he included the measure in his original health care proposal. If a decision is made to use reconciliation to advance health care, Senator Reid will work with the White House, House and members of his caucus in an effort to craft a public option that can overcome procedural obstacles and secure enough votes.
The move is a significant step forward for a public option left for dead (again) only a few months ago. Still, there are a number of Democratic Senate moderates who oppose the public option and also have reservations about using reconciliation to pass reform -- a possible deadly combination.

Democrat, Republican & Indepedent voters have not only stated their case against a public option, but they have clearly expressed their distaste & disdain for ramming through a health care bill in this manner that most American's don't want!

The Push to Stop Health Care Deform

Patriots

Please find below this weeks Items of Action we are concentrating on....

Item #1: Scott Brown U.S. Senate (the MA seat left open by Ted Kennedy)

The Massachusetts special US senate election is on Jan 19th. Candidate Scott Brown will will take away the 60th vote from the Democrats and will KILL THE HEALTHCARE BILL.

Brown says he will vote to KILL Obamacare if he is elected. He is Republican vote #41 and his vote blocks cloture and KILLS the healthcare bill. We have made up 30 points in the polls in the last month and are ahead by one!

Organizing for America is sending out info for a phone bank for Brown's opponent Coakley (D) today. MoveOn.org and SEIU are pouring money into the race to get Coakley elected. Bill Clinton and John Kerry are going to Massachusetts to help. We NEED to win this one. Scott Brown needs our help and the national phone bank is the key.

Please join the Tea Party Patriots national phone bank at: http://brownbrigade.ning.com/group/teapartyphonebankbrownbrigade

Item #2: Nebraska's special treatment in the Health Care bill

Attorney General Cordray is urging members of Ohio's congressional delegation to oppose the provision that would give preferential treatment to the state of Nebraska. To view Attorney General Cordray's letter to the Ohio delegation, go to www.OhioAttorneyGeneral.gov/ HealthCareLetter.

Fellow Patriots, AG Cordray's letter, though nice at tooting his own political horn, is nothing more than empty words. It is time our politicians stop putting our money where their mouth is and start doing their job! Instead of asking the OH congressional delgation to fight the health care bribery package put in place for Nebraska and other states, Attorney General Cordray should use every means available to him as Attorney General in stopping this -- not pawning it off on others.

If Attorney General Cordray is REALLY against this preferential treatment he should do his part in representing the State of Ohio's best interest and join South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster -- the leader of a group of 13 Republicans and one Democrat State Attorneys General -- who are threatening to file a law suit against Congress in order to stop passage of the radical health care bill currently being considered.

We are asking you to contact Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray and urge him to join the other State Attorney General's Offices in their efforts. Kindly remind Attorney General Cordray's office that the Tea Party Patriots in Ohio are fully aware he is up for re-election this year.

You can also go to the Ohio Attorney General website (
http://www. ohioattorneygeneral.gov/) where you can file a consumer complaint against the very health care bill that Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray says unfairly burdens residents in Ohio.

The Dean Scream Returns!

It looks like Howie Dean is stirring up the pot for the Democrats that supported the health care legislation. Dean has decided to concentrate of his old group, Democracy for America and has teamed up with the liberals running the Progressive Change Campaign Committee...

From Politico --

POLITICO’s Ken Vogel bears witness to the “resurrection” of Howard Dean, the progressive champion who traded his establishment bona fides as chairman of the Democratic National Committee for a more comfortable role as a liberal vanguard: "After four relatively low-profile years pushing the official party line as chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Dean is once again the tribune of frustrated liberals. … And after he called out President Barack Obama and his congressional allies over their concessions on health care, those close to him predict he’s just getting warmed up.

Dean’s health care stand has infuriated party leaders, who have alternately tried to marginalize him and to bring him on board. Yet at the same time, his provocative approach has re-energized the political group he founded and thrilled legions of progressive activists, many of whom were drawn to politics by Dean's insurgent 2004 presidential campaign, then deflated when he didn’t land an Obama Cabinet post. They have grown increasingly disenchanted with Obama’s presidency and are urging Dean to keep up the drumbeat as the health care debate heads to conference this month.”

— A sampling of liberal anger (from Vogel’s Dean piece): “After unsubscribing from OFA and pledging to turn his efforts to (Democracy for America, Dean’s old group) and another liberal PAC that supports the public option called the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, former Obama volunteer and donor Michael Hermann, a Los Angeles musician, told POLITICO: ‘I find the administration's hubris in thinking they will never lose their liberal base astounding.’ Wendy Sejour, a DFA leader in Homestead, Fla., who is also active in her local Democratic Party, said ‘what the administration does not understand is that when they try to marginalized Dean and DFA, they insult us and dismiss our hard work. We are the foot soldiers.’

Another DFA volunteer, Patrick Briggs of Pasadena, Calif., said he scrapped plans to become more involved in OFA over what he saw as its health care capitulation. He said Dean’s salvos ‘reminded some of us in the movement that at least there’s someone out there in the progressive community who’s looking out for our
interest.’”

Thanks Howie!

Mayo Clinic Cuts off Medicare Patients

How's this for irony.... the model given for efficient health care -- The Mayo Clinic -- is no longer taking Medicare patients. With the current deforming of health care being pushed by our "head in the bed pan" politicians, you can be sure there will be more of the same to come....

H/T Ashland Tea Party/9.12 Group --
(Bloomberg) -- The Mayo Clinic, praised by President Barack Obama as a national model for efficient health care, will stop accepting Medicare patients as of tomorrow at one of its primary-care clinics in Arizona, saying the U.S. government pays too little.

More than 3,000 patients eligible for Medicare, the government’s largest health-insurance program, will be forced to pay cash if they want to continue seeing their doctors at a Mayo family clinic in Glendale, northwest of Phoenix, said Michael Yardley, a Mayo spokesman. The decision, which Yardley called a two-year pilot project, won’t affect other Mayo facilities in Arizona, Florida and Minnesota.

Obama in June cited the nonprofit Rochester, Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic and the
Cleveland Clinic in Ohio for offering “the highest quality care at costs well below the national norm.” Mayo’s move to drop Medicare patients may be copied by family doctors, some of whom have stopped accepting new patients from the program, said Lori Heim, president of the American Academy of Family Physicians, in a telephone interview yesterday.

“Many physicians have said, ‘I simply cannot afford to keep taking care of Medicare patients,’” said Heim, a family doctor who practices in Laurinburg, North Carolina. “If you truly know your business costs and you are losing money, it doesn’t make sense to do more of it.” (More...)

And I believe they want to cut the overall funding of Medicare AND decrease the amount of the payments to doctors.

Rep. Charlie Wilson (OH-6): No Christmas Cookies for the Tea Party Patriots

On Dec. 23rd our Columbiana County & Ohio Valley Tea Party Patriot groups attempted delivering a lump of coal to the office of Rep. Charlie Wilson (OH-6).

Of course Wilson was not in, but can you believe the staffers didn't even offer these Patriots spreading Holiday cheer a Christmas cookie?

Senator Max Baucus' Drunken Rant on Health Care

H/T to the Ashland Tea Party/9.12 Group for posting this video of Senator Baucus in an egg nog induced rant on the Senate Floor debating the health care bill.

Forget about the keys.... it looks like friends shouldn't let friends drink and get on the Senate floor! And some people thought Rep. Joe Wilson's "You Lie" remark was offensive!

Like Senator Sherrod Brown (OH) -- Senator Landrieu (LA) Refuses to Face her Voters

Just like Senator Sherrod Brown from Ohio, Senator Landrieu is turning a deaf ear on the voters from her state.

The only difference between Landrieu & Brown is, Landrieu, along with several other Sen-a-whores, held out for Reid's tax dollar filled government "envelope" while it appears Senator Sherrod Brown negotiating skills couldn't get him a free lunch from a homeless shelter soup kitchen.

Senator Landrieu Closes Office: Constituents Turned Away at the Door, Callers Reach Only Busy Signals

FRC’s Tony Perkins Calls Closure the “Height of Arrogance”

Baton Rouge, LA – This afternoon, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins attempted to deliver a letter to Senator Mary Landrieu’s Baton Rouge office only to be told by a federal marshal that her offices were “closed for the holidays.” Over 150 concerned citizens joined Perkins at a rally in front of Senator Landrieu’s office to urge the Senator to oppose the government takeover of health care.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins made the following comments:

“We were stunned to learn why so many phone calls have been unanswered and met with continuous busy signals: As the Senate debates one of the most far reaching pieces of legislation in history, Senator Mary Landrieu has closed her office and her ears to Louisianans.

“Senator Landrieu sent press aides to offer the Senator’s spin on the health care bill but she did not make a staffer available to receive letters or answer phone calls. Senator Landrieu knows that almost two-thirds of Louisiana voters oppose the health care overhaul. However, refusing to take their phone calls is insulting and the height of arrogance. Americans are outraged at the conduct of the Majority in the United States Senate and they should be.

“If Senator Landrieu’s office had been open, she would have heard a clear message that Louisianans want her to stop this abominable health care bill that will force every American to support Planned Parenthood in the killing of unborn children, saddle families with higher insurance premiums, raise our taxes and deny our parents and grandparents the essential health care they need.”

The Bribery Break Down

Politico highlights the back room bribery that took place in the Senate in order to coerce the votes for passing hellth-care.

From Politico --

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), took credit for $10 billion in new funding for community health centers, while denying it was a “sweetheart deal.” He was clearly more enthusiastic about a bill he said he couldn't support just three days ago.

Nelson and Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) carved out an exemption for non-profit insurers in their states from a hefty excise tax. Similar insurers in the other 48 states will pay the tax.

Vermont and Massachusetts were given additional Medicaid funding, another plus for Sanders and Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) Three states – Pennsylvania, New York and Florida – all won protections for their Medicare Advantage beneficiaries at a time when the program is facing cuts nationwide.

All of this came on top of a $300 million increase for Medicaid in Louisiana, designed to win the vote of Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu.

Maybe the Federal prosecutors investigating the corruption in Cuyahoga County should go to D.C. and investigate what is either -- Reid bribing a select few of his fellow Democrat Sen-a-whores or these Sen-a-whores are extorting him.

While President Obama claims this backroom bartering is compromise and the cost of doing business in Washington, the prosecutors investigating the corruption here consider this type of behavior by public officials -- criminal!

Regardless, the God Given and Constitutionally protected rights of "We the people" are again facing a full frontal assault from the D.C. dipweeds in this historic fleecing of America called health care reform.

Ben Nelson, Standing Up Against the Health Care Scheme

H/T again to the Ashland Tea Party & 9.12 Group for posting this below ad by the League of American Voters on their Face Book Page.

The ad targets Ben Nelson in attempts to get his vote to change back to no on the Senate Health Care Bill.

Look at this fight in the Senate as if we are in the 11th round of a 12 round championship boxing match. We may be bloody, bruised and battered and this is only a Standing 8 count -- this round in the Senate is not yet over and we still got one left!

Buck up Patriots and continue making calls to the targeted Senators. We knew we were in for a battle, we knew what we were up against and we knew it was going to be a knock down dragged out fight. But know one thing.... they want us to quit.

If the lines are busy and voice mails full, continue calling back until they ring and.or the voice mails are taking messages again. When they clear the voice mails -- fill 'em right back up!

President Obama issued this challenge over health care awhile back. When referring to the battle over government run health care he said, "I'm not tired, I'm just getting started...". Let's continue meeting that challenge like we already have shown that we can!

Lieberman Staffer Threatens to have Tea Party Patriot Coordinators Arrested

Below is an article written by Mark Meckler about one of the lowlights at the "Government Waiting Rooms" at the Code Red Rally in D.C. today.

Mark is one of the National Coordinators for the Tea Party Patriots.

From Parcbench --

Today, Tea Party Patriots from across the nation spent most of the day in DC visiting a variety of Senator’s offices to express our opinion that they should not pass the health care reform bill currently before the Senate. Most staffers were polite enough, though usually we were not permitted any time to speak with a Senator or senior staff. However, clearly the Tea Party Patriots were making their presence known in the Senate office buildings as we executed operation Government Waiting Rooms. As we sat waiting to speak to Senators who wouldn’t show their faces, we got the feeling of what it would be like in government controlled health care system; lots of waiting and no results.

The day turned far more interesting when we heard that Senator Joe Lieberman was on the fence. Three of us decided to head up to the seventh floor to see if the Senator would spare a few minutes and speak with us about his position on the pending bill. Accompanied by fellow Tea Party Patriot National Coordinator Sally Oljar, and California Patriot Michael Greer, I entered Lieberman’s office and we asked to speak with him. We were advised that he wasn’t there, but as we had done in all the previous offices we had visited, we indicated that we’d be happy to wait for him.

Unfortunately, Sen. Lieberman’s staff reacted quite differently than all the other staff we had encountered. The gentleman who appeared to be in charge told us that we had to leave the Senator’s office. He kept repeating that the Senator would not be meeting with us, and that he wanted us to leave. As we sat peacefully in the small waiting room, I simply responded to him by telling him that we were happy to wait. When he again insisted we leave, we engaged in a civil discussion where we advised him that as citizens, we felt we had a right to be there, in a building which we pay for. Finally, he threatened to call the Capitol Police and have us arrested for “loitering.;” We advised him to do whatever he needed to do, but that we weren’t leaving.

Eventually, six armed Capitol Police arrived. One officer entered the waiting room and advised us that the staffer was asking us to leave, and that if we didn’t leave, we’d be arrested. I asked the officer if it was a police request that we leave, and told him that we were law abiding citizens and would leave if he asked us to. He seemed hesitant to do so, and ultimately left the room to speak with the staffer without asking us to leave. After several minutes of pow-wow between the officers and the staffer, we decided to leave before the situation escalated further. It was clear, with six officers on hand, they did intend to arrest us.

All across the country, Senators refuse our calls, ignore our emails, throw away our letters and refuse to meet with us.. Today — in the Senate office building — Senate staff literally threatened to arrest three members of the Tea Party Patriots, including two National Coordinators. When one of the most “moderate” Senators threatens to have well groomed, quiet, cooperative tea partiers arrested simply for sitting in the office waiting to meet with a Senator, it is clear that representative democracy is on
its death bed in this country.

Sound too outrageous to believe? Watch the video and see your government at work.

Reason #972, 461 Against Government Health Care

A great example of what happens when the government gets involved with anything - in a rush to get enough vaccines for the swine flu, it sounds as if they bought the cheap stuff from the bottom shelf....
Hundreds of thousands of swine flu shots for children have been recalled because tests indicate the vaccine doses lost some strength, government health officials said Tuesday.

The recall is for about 800,000 pre-filled syringes intended for young children, ages 6 months to nearly 3 years. The shots, made by Sanofi Pasteur, were distributed across the country last month and most have already been used, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Doctors were notified of the voluntary recall on Tuesday. Dr. Anne Schuchat, a CDC flu expert, stressed that parents don't need to do anything or to worry. The vaccine is still safe, she said. (Yahoo News)

Of course the vaccine is still safe - they were given a watered-down dosage!

Senator Voinovich Where Are You?

In the Democrat hijacking of the Vote for Cloture on the health care bill this past Saturday the vote was 60 - 39. That totals 99 Senators. As is still true in what we were taught in Government Class -- our country has 100 Senators -- two for every state.

One Republican senator did not do his job. That one senator would be the State of Ohio's own Senator George Voinovich.

Even though Voinovich's vote would not have stopped the motion for cloture, it would have been a show of solidarity against this country killing version of health care reform. It would have shown that Senator Voinovich has not only heard the voices of the over 54% of Ohioans who do not agree with the health care reform being rammed down our throats but that Senator Voinovich is acting on their wishes.

Up until now Voinovich or his staff would tell all the Tea Party Patriots and 9.12er's contacting them that the Senator is against this health care reform. Really? Then why didn't he show this with action and vote against the Motion for Cloture?

Being a known social conservative who is very much against abortion, and the Senate Bill allowing for federal dollars to be used for abortions -- Voinovich not voting against the Motion for Cloture is a serious cause for concern and shows he may be wavering.

Regardless of whatever reason Senator Voinovich comes up with for not even voting on the Motion for Cloture until his vote is cast -- nothing can be certain. We must take action to hold his vote against the Senate Health Care Bill.

With that we are asking everyone in OH that is against this country-killing health care reform to do the following items:

Contact Senator Voinovich's offices

Washington, D.C. Office Phone: (202) 224-3353 Fax: (202) 228-1382

Columbus Office: Phone: (614) 469-6697 Fax: (614) 469-7733

Cleveland Office: Phone: (216) 522-7095 Fax: (216) 522-7097

Cincinnati Office: Phone: (513) 684-3265 Fax: (513) 684-3269

Toledo Office: Phone: (419) 259-3895 Fax: (419) 259-3899

Reinforce your message that he vote against any further measures advancing the Senate Health Care Bill.Senator Voinovich is retiring at the end of this term, ask if he really wants to end his long political career knowing he turned his back on the Ohio voters and conservatives - again?

  • Call OH GOP Chairman Kevin DeWine (614)228-2481

  • Call your Republican Party County Chairman (See list below).

  • E-mail members of the Republican State Central Committee. (See list below).

Inform these individuals that with his actions, Senator Voinovich is showing that he is NOT listening and is dangerously ignoring the voices of the voters in OH. Ask that as the leaders of the Republican Party in Ohio that they also contact Senator Voinovich (R) and hold him accountable in acting as the voice for the conservative voters in Ohio.

Cloture Vote on Health Care was a Historical Hijacking of the Political Process

By this time we are all aware of the shenanigans with the health care bill in the Senate yesterday

"We the People" -- not just conservatives, Tea Party Patriots and 9.12 members, but the American public as a whole should be outraged by the way the votes for this procedural motion took place. This wasn't a legitimate vote on moving the Senate Bill forward -- this was an unmatched historical highjacking of the political process!

Notice how not only did they "buy" the votes from another elected idiot from Louisiana, the deciding vote was from Kennedy's old seat. The same seat they changed the rules so they could give it to a democrat -- former Democratic National Committee Chairman Paul Kirk -- anticipating the need for every vote they could muster for this health care chicanery.

So by buying off Rep. Cao in the House, Landrieu in the Senate and stealing the appointment of the MA Senate seat for the 60th vote they got the bill on the Floor. Was this a transparent victory on good policy and political partisanship? Not hardly.... this mockery was more like a move out of the Politboro.

Keeping in step with parliamentary procedure maybe "We the People" should 'move' that the White House be temporarily renamed -- The Red Shed on the Hill.

Can I get a "Second"?
